Feel free to espouse these opinions in contexts. It is my understanding that hate speech is not, in fact, protected speech. But I would be happy to be proved wrong.

I have taken a page from that book. I will not tolerate intolerance.

@alexa@fedi.absturztau.be You may have a different interpretation of the law than I or a court of law. Feel free to test your opinion, so long as you harm none.

Keeping in mind their legal venues are the states of Washington and California, those things are illegal in part or in whole.

@alexa@fedi.absturztau.be

No, they do not. That would be in violation of their policies if it took place on their service.

But they do not moderate another instance if it allows it to happen on that instance. (A policy with which I disagree.)

@alexa@fedi.absturztau.be Define "that type of behavior" ?

@alexa@fedi.absturztau.be

My, how mature of you! clearly you engage in measured discussion. And deserve to be take seriously.

Since you asked for facts, will Karl Popper do? He described the Tolerance Paradox in 1945, which has been studied rather further since. tl;dr : an open society cannot tolerate strict intolerance.

It's not new, but it is very à propos:

A not-unusual personal hosting option is to run it on the home LAN, and VPN to the server for your mobile device(s), for those concerned about putting their junk on the internet.

The content makers can get money on the platform, but with a currently-smaller audience of course it will probably be less.

But my point is not to solely host content on Peertube. It can automagically embed in various blogs, sites, feeds, etc. from there due to , including bridging to Youtube. From a content maker POV it is the or equivalent; you only need to upload it once to use it everywhere.

And then that community factor of - share your bandwidth.

@rmw

I am partial, in concept, to for video, because it shares the reader and publisher's resources to distribute the content (and, incidentally, this makes it resistant to server overload since the more people viewing means the more seeds available.)

And on the audience can all display the same events - whether it's a video, a photo, an essay-length article, or a brief . And everyone can respond directly, with text or media, via their server.

@lunduke Mmm, the lilliputian show was a bit due to time limit.

The has no such limitations. And a reply can be anything - a response podcast is an option.

If Fediverse is the primary publishing platform, which is then bridged to Youtube and other corporate walled gardens, I think you could save some time/effort in publishing. And, within the fora, it would at least be more convenient for *me* - they all come in through whatever client I choose. It's all about me.

Is there a standardized desktop on the horizon? ZDNet reports "in a major step forward the two chief Linux desktop rivals, GNOME Foundation and KDE, have agreed to work together." @kde and @gnome will sponsor Linux App Summit 2019...

On a lark, I tried alternativeto.net, and they did in fact have a listing. None listed, however, are floss.
