@danie10 Quite unfortunately, they still use Windows for 'email, the web, and fun.' It would have been nice if they used Linux for everything. ๐
@parasurv@mstdn.io I can completely understand you. What they actually mean here is that this particular distro is preconfigured with all the tools needed for users to accomplish that 'specific task' without having to do anything themselves. It does seem quite pointless given that you can do it yourself on most distros with a just basic understanding of Linux. That is why most veterans would agree that distros don't matter as much anymore. It is now about how much you can change it to suit your needs. ๐
@protheory8 @Tutanota @Mastodon Honestly, I've personally never used it myself nor do I know much about it besides the fact that it is decentralised like LBRY. The reason I got to know about LBRY was that most of the channels I follow on YouTube started publishing on it as well. What's the difference between #LBRY and #peertube?
@Tutanota @Mastodon While most of your recommendations are great, I would like to suggest a few changes. Given the recent popularity of #LBRY, it might be a better alternative to YouTube than Vimeo as it is also #foss. Furthermore, while I feel Tresorit is a solid choice, it does not offer many end-users a good value proposition. It might be better if it was suggested to use Cryptomator in conjunction with another cloud service for users who may not be able to afford it.
Hip-hip-hooray! Come on, Linux fans! Ask your friends, your family and anyone else you know to join you on the 'Linux journey'. Let's help Tux go 'on a roll'!
I wish you all the best. ๐ช ๐ ๐

@Tutanota To be honest, I am already loving Tutanota just the way it is but I would also love to see a native app for it on the #Librem5 & #PinePhone. ๐
@Tutanota ๐ฌ Creepy!
@tagomago @libreoffice I agree with you on that. I once held a poll about web browsers and it only got 11 votes. However, there wasn't a single vote for any browser except Firefox. ๐

@Tutanota Not all tracking is bad, though. It can be quite useful, in fact, in certain situations. For example, who wouldn't want their ebook reader (offline or web-based) to automatically store the place where you last stopped reading so you can resume from there later without having to remember it yourself? The question is, then, who has access to this data. I feel that is why services like #tutanota are needed. To control the access to such data than to prevent the collection of it.
@Tutanota I find that disturbing. I appreciate that you are being transparent about this. ๐ ๐
@Flipp3rrr @libreoffice How did you get 'just' Excel? Doesn't it come with the entire suite? How do you use Excel on Linux? Is it through the web app?
FYI, I am just really curious. ๐
@tagomago @libreoffice I noticed that too. However, there are quite a few comments in this thread where people use multiple platforms. Thus, the results may not be completely accurate. However, I agree that Linux is where most LibreOffice users are. (Myself included.) ๐
