Educational institutions of all levels should use and teach #FreeSoftware because it is the only software that allows them to accomplish their essential missions: to disseminate human knowledge and to prepare students to be good members of their community. https://u.fsf.org/1dz

A Picture Book of some of the Apps on Mobile Linux.

To give you a sense of what we talk about: all patches in these folders are those we carry in Mobian.
https://salsa.debian.org/Mobian-team/devices/kernels/sunxi64-linux/-/tree/mobian-6.1/debian/patches
Mobian started as a hobby project, triggered by the excitement of finally being able to hack one’s mobile phone at will. It is fair to say that the device that made it possible back then was the original PinePhone. However, after running once again into the same difficulties we experienced over and over, we’re wondering whether maintaining support for this device is still worth the effort…

@gecko @tootbrute @KinmenRisingProject The real difference there comes from @purism having kernel devs on their payroll: in terms of hardware parts, IMHO they didn't make obviously better choices when looking only at the "software support" aspect (heck, even they ended up with a downstream driver for the wifi cards they initially shipped)

@eliasr I don't think anybody is doing the backporting to byzantium atm. Crimson has recent packages (but I wouldn't recommend Crimson for every day phone usage yet). For experiments `l5-fetch-next phosh` gives you current phosh (+next patches) on byzantium (that's what I'm using to run recent phosh on my daily device).
@kosmosghost @purism Phosh is using a lot of GNOME technologies and we consider us part of the GNOME community/ecosystem but phosh doesn't use gnome-shell so its extensions won't work. There's extension points for e.g. lockscreen plugins though (and more planned for e.g. quick settings).
Good news everyone! The gPodder media RSS reader / podcast client / podcatcher had a bugfix release (3.11.3) last week (subscriptions to youtube user ID URLs now work, yay!).
I also made a release of the adaptive UI version for all your portable podcast needs on #mobileLinux. Get it from #flathub: https://flathub.org/apps/org.gpodder.gpodder-adaptive
phosh 0.32.0 is out 🚀📱:
More fixes in #phosh and #phoc ➕ allows to reorder lock screen plugins (thanks gauthamx@mastodon.world) ➕ improvements in phosh-osk-stub's virtual-keyboard mode in non US layouts (e.g. for electron apps) and initial #varnam support for Malayalam.
