There's a world of difference (to my well-being and mental health, if nothing else) between working with, or even just talking with, people who are helpful, supportive, and constructive even when they disagree or have criticisms, and those who mostly, or even just often, just raise problems and point out flaws (even when, in their hearts, they mean well). The flood of negativity wears me down.
As anticipated in the poll of last week, I'm currently developing an unified resource tells you if your #smartphone or smartwatch is able to boot any (and what) kind of #Linux, with information on its current level of support (alpha to daily driver) and also aimed (in the limits this field allows) at relatively inexperienced users.
More details, and hopefully an usable/useful release, in the next days/weeks!

I'm really getting a kick out of producing the "Weekly Tech News" with my bud, @gbryant.
It's short. It's tech news. It's... just goofy. Makes me smile.
Google’s new reCAPTCHA has a dark side https://www.fastcompany.com/90369697/googles-new-recaptcha-has-a-dark-side
This is ridiculous! Frankly speaking, Google's reCAPTCHA v3 is going to be a tracker script on EVERY SINGLE PAGE of a website, it's going to collect and analyze user's behaviors, and is supposed to determine whether the request is unwanted by some machine learning algorithms... 🤮 Totally insane.

*Linux Laptop Wiki [Rebooted]*
The aim of the website is to provide a central wiki to post experiences with Linux on the model of laptop / notebook you're using.
Linlap.info is an attempt to 'reboot' the abandoned and spammed linlap dot com which is now unusable.
Please consider participating on building a new "HQ" sending in your model / experiences!
Any help appreciated!

Facebook recently argued in court that privacy on their platform does not exist, but at the same time tried to declare their stance as a privacy protector...

Confidential mode? Hrm.
"Much like how Google Chrome's Incognito mode doesn't totally prevent third-parties from seeing the websites you visit, Confidential mode doesn't keep the content of your emails from Google itself." https://www.mic.com/p/gmails-confidential-mode-isnt-as-private-as-it-seems-according-to-experts-18136277
@micahbp ...just dawned on me that that last bit also applies to Gmail. Thankfully there's @protonmail if you'd prefer someone wasn't looking through all your letters...
@micahbp I suppose calling it 'social media' sounds catchier than saying 'Group emailing everyone on your list of friends with the possibility of other people seeing your email if you make it publicly accessible.' which is probably what I'd say if someone asked me to explain Facebook. Although it'd be best to add that a creepy corporation will also read all your emails, write down the useful stuff and sell it to anyone they can whilst they're at it. ;)
@micahbp 5 years ago or so I sent an email to a friend - it wasn't particularly important but I'd grown some potatoes in a bucket on my balcony and felt oddly proud of my 'crop' of about 12 potatoes from just the one that I'd planted - and afterwards thought I'd send a similar email with pictures to another friend and then thought of someone else who might appreciate it... It finally clicked that that was what 'social media' was: instead of emailing each friend, you just make a single post! :)
@micahbp Haven't really got round to 'explaining' it yet, but did mention it in the passing as:
"A Facebook kindof thing without all the creepy tracking"
and to explain the character limit of posts/toots:
"Somewhere inbetween Facebook and Twitter"
A dabbler in many things. FLOSSy LINUXy things in particular.
