@paco DVDs also had DRM in form of Content Scramble System and regionally locked drives and discs. It just didn't work that well so with Blurays they went further.

@thatguyoverthere Seeing my cats run around, I'd call having multiple cats fuzzing 😆

@SirVo Your avatar cracks me up every fscking time I see it 🤣

@gemlog Sure, when you start not with just being in opposing camps, but with having different opinions on certain things, it's not simple name-calling. You always have something to take out of such discussions even when no one changes their opinion to the direct opposite.
Putting your position into words makes your own thoughts more clear, you start questioning yourself: maybe this part here is weak and isn't based on something more substantial than your beliefs and usual ways of thinking.

@dem Same here, vim just has saner defaults — mostly works for me. Of course, you can build upon it and turn it into something more versatile.
But emacs has me completely lost. Mastering some tools feels rewarding, but emacs to me is "oh no, not this… thing again!" I feel like I don't get it's core principle that would make things more fluent. Matter of habits as usual 🤷

@gemlog That'd be Venezuela and who's the bad guy there I think 😄
But let's take it slow, I feel like I have to start from afar to make my position on subject seem more consistent.

@gemlog TBH it wasn't that hard — I already had all the development tools installed and Vim's build manual is rather thorough. A couple of hacks here and there and voila!
Why I did that is a more interesting question… I guess that is what happens when you are recuperating from having one too many drinks the day before😋

@dem I never was into Slackware and I think I've missed my train already, but xbps-src — Void's build system is really impressive IMO. Making a package for something new literally takes minutes if you know ins and outs. And cross-building is a matter of passing a parameter in most cases.
Debian's build system is hell even if it's backporting package to older Debian release. I can't imagine what it takes to write all these scripts/configs from the ground up 🤪

@curiousthinker Man, you are not going to believe what I did because I woke up early in the morning and was looking for something to entertain myself with!
I've built native Vim for ARM64 edition of Windows 11. On a phone! Damn, how did I end up here?🫠
My original intent was to set Pleroma up on my Void PowerPC box, but while stuff was building I've found this device lying around — and there I have it!
Even the transparency hack works with native DLL😊

@curiousthinker But it does one thing really well — makes you feel confused that is 🤣

@Knight_of_the_First_State
You think I'm going to defend the FBI? Never!
No such cases that I know of, but I bet, stuff like that is reserved for some very special occasions that never make it into news anyway. Once you do it and everyone knows how it was done, all hell breaks loose and you can never use that again.
But you know with corrupt shit it's always "We can never do that, but if you really-really-really want to… fine!"
@SirPaulCouture

Exactly! Would arresting those on the Epstein list justify access to Twitter and political censorship? No! Would it solve the "~25% of kids have experience with sexual abuse"? Again no! According to what I know it happens mostly in domestic setting — it's either family members or close friends, whom kids know well.
These are three separate problems, lumping them together solves neither. And pointing this out doesn't make me a supporter of child abuse.

You have to spend a couple of hours on tweaking it to your taste, but you can actually make FF look nice!
I may have tweaked it even further since then, but here is what mine looks like on my laptop: social.librem.one/@m0xee/10870
