The expansion of NATO, the US “diplomatic” strategy after the demise of the USSR, the role of the mass media regarding to Russia as key pieces for the emergence of Putin’s figure.
I don’t know how many people know Vladimir Pozner, nor how many can understand English, but the presentation Pozner gave at Yale University in 2018 as part of the Russia, Eastern Europe and Eurasia Studies Program and the Poynter Journalism Fellowship is incredibly eye-opening and pedagogical to better understand how we got into this situation between the United States (via NATO) and Russia in which Ukraine got trapped. Every minute of his talk and the Q&A afterwards (which lasts over an hour) is very interesting and unfortunately prescient.
“On September 27, 2018, Yale’s Program in Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies, and the Poynter Fellowship for Journalism hosted Vladimir Pozner, the acclaimed Russian-American journalist and broadcaster. Pozner spoke on the impact of US foreign policy towards Russia after the Soviet Union has been disbanded, and shared his opinions on a range of issues raised by the audience, from the alleged Russian interference in the 2016 US presidential elections, to Skripal poisoning, to the state of independent media in Russia and the US.”
I discovered this a while ago, and I have yet to be contacted by vendors about this. I am making public CVE-2022-23835: A security analysis of Visual Voicemail
Detailed analysis: https://gitlab.com/kop316/vvm-disclosure
Thank you to CERT/CC for your help in trying to contact the vendors, in CERT/CC, it is filed under VU#383864.
#libadwaita is finally in Debian Sid! 🎉
As soon as it is in Debian Testing I will start using it in #PicPlanner. I already read all the tutorials so I hope it will be easy to make PicPlanner adaptive for the use with mobile Linux devices like the #librem5 or #pinephone .
But until this is the case there is still a lot of other work... For example the online location search with Nominatim which I a still afraid of 😂😅
did you know.... when the @postmarketOS splash generator can't find the logo, it falls back to the recycle emoji 😆
Linux Mobile vs. The Social Dilemma
As FOSS on mobile community, let's do our part to fix the many negative effects of social media and its hostile design patterns. We could become the prime example of how to treat users with respect. To not only give them control over their phone, but also over their attention. From design choices in the operating systems and apps to the platforms we choose to communicate about development.

Dino 0.3 is released and supports video calls and conferences! 🥳
You can call a friend or a group of people. Calls are e2e-encrypted, peer-to-peer and compatible with other XMPP applications.

#3dprinting #ticem3d #aevendadopinheiro #education
Thank everyone for making this year's FOSDEM event a great success and (most importantly) a lot of fun!

Heads up: phosh-osk-stub moved out of #phosh's repo and to: https://gitlab.gnome.org/guidog/phosh-osk-stub as it acquired more and more cruft while debugging some (now fixed) touch input related issues in #gtk 4.
Mostly mentioning it here since some distros (such as #debian) used it in the past on architectures that had trouble building #rust to fulfill session dependencies (which is not an issue anymore nowadays) so it can safely be dropped.
So the main reason I wrote the Visual Voicemail App for mainline linux phones is because my mother leave voicemails if she can't get a hold of me to check up on me and gets worried if I don't call her back.
I'm glad to share that my mom can still do that since I switched to a #librem5
(and yes, I did call her back both times!)
The video for my @fosdem talk about @mobian has been published, feel free to have a look in case you weren't able to watch it live: https://fosdem.org/2022/schedule/event/mobile_mobian/

FOSDEM 2022 was such a great experience, so many amazing talks and people! 🎉
Some of the recordings are already up, find them on the information pages of each talk! As a bonus thing, here's a short episode we spontaneously decided to record right afterwards.

I finally have a usable dedicated #postmarketOS device! Picked up a used OnePlus 6, which is timely considering @calebccff's awesome FOSDEM talk. Can't wait to play with this thing some more - great work to the @postmarketOS team :)
