Can we just stop using Discord and go back to using forum sites?
I realize it's (comparatively) super easy to set up, but y'all realize it's just going to bite us all in the ass as soon as someone at Discord decides they need to turn up the profit ratio?
It's a ticking time bomb. The whole thing is going to follow the enshittification process, and anything of value on there is going to be lost/sold/destroyed.

A short look back at what happened around #phosh in 2023:
@cas wait, w00t! Where?
The #FOSDEM stand locations are now public! The #LinuxOnMobile stand will be in building AW (near the main entrance), level 1, stand 6. It's great to be alongside all the other Linux distros 🐧 📱 📦
Please come visit us on 3-4 February in Brussels!
Ooof, besides the stalled protocols Firefox needs, this one's scary:
> Mutter [...] terminates Wayland client if it’s recognized as stalled. It usually means Wayland client doesn’t read messages from Wayland display socket fast enough [...]. It may be a bug in application itself [...] or it’s caused by input devices like 1000 Hz mouse which generates too many events.
There *must* be a better solution than a "wayland-proxy" implementation...

Every now and then people wonder how to replace #phosh's on screen keyboard and what interfaces are needed. Here's some notes on that: https://phosh.mobi/posts/phosh-osk-interface/
So turns out I'm going to be speaking at #FOSDEM in February as part of the "FOSS on Mobile Devices" track. We'll go step-by-step through debugging a spontaneous modem reset issue that used to trouble the #Librem5 phone, which - spoiler alert - turned out to be a (not very well-)known bug in the #USB 2.0 spec. Check this and other talks out at https://fosdem.org/2024/schedule/track/foss-on-mobile-devices #fosdem24 #fosdem2024 #linuxmobile
Today marks two years that I have been using a mainline linux phone exclusively.
I went from a @PINE64 OG Pinephone with @mobian to a #librem5 from @purism with #pureos, to finally the same Librem 5 with Mobian.
That Librem5 has survived several drops and a few assassination attempts from nephews.
It's been a fun journey so far! I created 4 FOSS apps, contributed to several others, and use quite a bit more.
