@alison Sounds good! I have a burner for J3, so a J4 burner is a good idea. Or/and if I do a local installation on a Linux laptop and import my site and see what happens, and start to explore that way. I haven’t done a local ”LAMP” before, but I believe I will manage if I just take some time for it.
@alison Aha, I am not surprised they do.
@alison Yes, and QAnon will hardly replace as core market. On the other hand, China is a big Tesla market, and the relation Musk-Tesla-Twitter-China is interesting (but I don’t have any conclusion).
@katherined @alison Yes, well, I have pushed Joomla 4 in front of me… Time plan for J4 release was delayed a few years I belive, but it arrived! Now it should be mature but I need to take time to learn more before I prepare migration. I know the template will need work as Protostar cannot be migrated. So I need to start to understand issues first. Then I can explore features! I am conservative in using extensions. But still. So your question - I hope I can answer you in spring!
@alison @katherined Nice to read someone from who use and volonteer Joomla. I use Joomla for my personal web site, and one for an org I manage.
@LinusLarsson Jag såg dig! 👍
An irregular reminder that calling this place "Mastodon" has a bit similar energy as saying "I just sent you a GMail."
"Fediverse" (or "fedi") is a better term.
Mastodon is just one of many software projects that talk to each other to create this multi-instance social network:
https://axbom.com/fediverse/
(kudos to @axbom for this fantastic infographic!)
There are blogs, Reddit-like communities, video instances and many more, all part of fedi.
We may never be able to match the incredible achievements of #JohnMastodon, but the European Union still plays its part!
We are proud funders of Mastodon through the Next Generation Internet initiative (@EC_NGI).
Open,
Interoperable,
Decentralised,
Trust based.

Vattenfall bygger just nu världens största havsbaserade vindkraftspark i Nederländerna.
@KGuw Intressant iakttagelse.
@infinite_loopy @taylorlorenz This page is a good start how Mastodon works: https://docs.joinmastodon.org/ I have not reviewed the specific questions, what is implemented and not, one way or another. Note that each instance may decide differently what they implement, which release they currently have. Also apps can vary what and how they implement. Can also be a reason a feature is not desirable. Existing ideas and your own on the github. Note this is free open source; FOSS!
The reason Mastodon and the Fediverse is spread out on so many servers is it protects it from being taken over by anyone. Not even the richest can buy this place.
Centralised services like Twitter are incredibly easy to buy out. If you move from Twitter to another centralised service, sooner or later that will get bought out too.
The point of the Fediverse is to break this buyout cycle, to let people be permanently in control of their accounts. More info here:
Football governing body FIFA is set to earn US$ 7.5 billion in revenue from the #WorldCup.
Host Qatar spent some US$ 220 billion on it.
Yet many of the migrant workers who built the stadiums and tournament infrastructure have not been paid.
And thousands of them died or suffered injuries while working, yet they & their families received no compensation.

The New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, CNN and Associated Press have all posted guides to using Mastodon, which in turn have been syndicated by numerous local news outlets. That matters. We're rapidly approaching a situation where the media will refer to things happening "on Mastodon" the way they referred to Twitter in, say, 2013.
@adam Thanks, yes, maybe Delta is the answer.
