@eloquence The term disruptive, eg a disruptive technology, is used when something very new make its way (iPhone may serve as one example). It's far too early to tell how Twitter will evolve and its position as well as Mastodon. But right now, maybe Mastodon will get a disruptive advantage caused by a person on the other product. Quick thoughts.

I have now installed my Joplin note-taking app also on my latest machine (ThinkPad T460 with Linux Mint). I sync devices of all kind and OS with #WebDav via my #NextCloud account, end-to-end encrypted with my own keys (my encryption in the Nextcloud file manager). Works well to setup the new device. I have used the 1Password password manager for a few years, incl on GNU/Linux. Maybe a year ago they added also a Linux client in addition to the browser extension. Today I have installed also the Linux client - I appreciate they have the full flegded client also for Linux. #Linux #1Password #PasswordManager #software

@kyle For me, it depends on my purpose and target group for a post. I post to one or multiple of Mastodon, Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook (friends only). And I consider and choose as often as relevant to place my "content" on own web site which I can control and have ownership. Then beside when I am the driver, I use all also depending on to whom I want listen to, and of course interact. That is where I am in my needs, no conflict to that your needs differ.

@zaivala Bigger screen is nice. But I will often dock to an external screen. I think its 32 Gb Ram will be nice for photo editing (my mac has 8 as well as my best older Mint-laptop). My mac is also too old now for latest macOS, while the T460p of about same age can upgrade to latest Mint for several years to come!

@shawnp0wers Have you tried vdo.ninja? Not instead or solving, I suppose. But I know the mintcast pod use it for their youtube livestream. I’m not into the video business, so I don’t understand or know anything… (but curious to try one day in the future)

Preparing my refurbished ThinkPad T460p to be used more and more in favor over my macMini. Linux Mint Cinnamon is in place, more sw ongoing. I have Linux on two older machines as well, but this one should be good enough as daily driver incl photo management. I like #LinuxMint! #Linux #opensource
