#Microsoft is killing the #BSoD 😭
No more blue screens... it's now the Black Screen of Death 🥲

But the #tradition though... aw.
At this point just using *any* Microsoft product, let alone Windows, is inherently a security risk.

@flacs 🤔
@0x10f Nice
@kyle I'd pay 20% more for a made-in-USA laptop (or specifically, a not-made-in-enemy-nation laptop), easily.
@programming_quotes "a debate with a compiler" ...
@mike It would be a cool trend if open-source projects changed their licenses to say that businesses with over a certain amount of profit have to pay a certain slice of that profit.
Like what you're saying, right?
@mike One one hand, governments and corporations shouldn't have to pay for using open-source software since it is explicitly provided Free....
On the other hand, it's not really fair when some poor maintainer finds themselves maintaining a project that a lot of people really depend on (the #XZbackdoor comes to mind).
Windows 10 dies Oct 14, 2025. Microsoft wants you to buy new hardware. But if your PC’s from after 2010, it’s not obsolete — just held back. If you install Linux there are no license fees, no forced upgrades, no ads and spyware. You can find help at the https://endof10.org/
@jbiserkov @tshirtman @xale @sop For some reason, Mastodon seems to label all video as "GIF", which is frustrating to me
@strypey Frankly, it's not a hill either of us need to die on because even in the screenshots you gave, you can see that all your clients actually *do* display a server. Take a look :) we're both talking about @ mentions but when it comes to viewing a post, *all five* of the screenshotted clients show the poster's server, which is what matters for following a news source.
At any rate, @ index isn't the best name, so they could change it for *that* reason, as you were saying.
@citrus_marine Hey I mean it can go from 6mil to 14mil in one day too in theory, right? But don't burn yourself out ;)
@andros Neat. What I do is put a leading space before the command, like ` echo 'secret sauce' >> .secretsaucedb`. Works on most shells and shell configurations, though I haven't always found it enabled so I might do ` echo test` first and then hit the up arrow to see if it was remembered.
Hello there!
I boost a lot of posts, but I have a few things to say every now and then.
I am largely fine with boosting posts from people I disagree with even on significant, dividing issues. I usually don't, however, if they actively advocate for these ideas... so it goes :/
