Is the real threat of AI not that it will become superintelligent, but that we'll become dependent on it and become superdumb?

@indie1337@vivaldi.net I remember the leak of My Blood by . The leak sounded like a recording of it playing on some other device, but was still magical. I was by the coffee table with my older brother in the living room of our old house.

@torvalds Welcome to the Fediverse!
social.kernel.org, no way!

Random first trial post: today, March 14th, is the 29th anniversary of the Linux 1.0 announcement.

Of course, there are other arguably more important dates in Linux history, but this is one of them.

@indie1337@vivaldi.net @Big_Diggity [...]"let the one who desires take the water of life without price."

@indie1337@vivaldi.net @Big_Diggity That's actually a really neat idea. It could demonstrate to welcomed non-believers what everything is really about. Many fear *dying*, but Christians don't fear *death*.

@indie1337@vivaldi.net No problemo, thanks back!

With the return of Emotet, people should be on the lookout for malicious emails, even if they appear to come from trusted sources, call the target by name, and include previously sent and received emails. trib.al/2lyR6kS #press

@indie1337@vivaldi.net Oh shoot I didn't see this... welcome back :D

I miss the time where no one branded themselves on the internet.

When people were just their goofy selves and didn’t take everything so seriously.

When social media was a public square and not pay-to-play arena.

When it paid to be human rather than some marketed version of human.

But everyone I’ve seen do this gets pushed out.

Because that sort of content doesn’t pay and money runs the world… maybe mastodon can evade this 🤞

@CM30 That's understandable. Enjoy your hiatus :)

@RL_Dane I get the feeling. Even though I'm a, uh, young whippersnapper, I've messed around with old computers and I miss them. Just raw computer, neither backdoored nor "smart".

@RL_Dane I saw that - 100 lines; unbelievable.
Still though... something about running something as small, old-school and implementable as the UXN CPU on bare hardware... is so perfect

@RL_Dane Another thing. I wonder what it would be like to run UXN (or other homebrewn small ISAs) code on an FPGA?

(At "implement it" I was talking about the VM)
