Free software is a prerequisite for a modern free society, even during these trying times -- and the more members we have, the stronger our movement is. Please help us meet our goal of 200 "gnu" members by August 7! fsf.org/appeal/

@joacim Snyggt! Jag tänker att man gärna hade velat se datum på inläggen i listan på förstasidan, typ bredvid varje rubrik. Eller det kanske blir för grötigt. Men man undrar ju när de är skrivna.

@sir I think this is the best, because that was the start of everything for me. After this, nothing could stop me:

10 PRINT "HEJ"
20 GOTO 10

@syntax @jameshjacksonjr @purism They're selling a new PinePhone variant now, with larger RAM and postmarketOS installed: store.pine64.org/product/pinep -- "Estimate dispatch in late August, 2020" it says.

@parasurv@mstdn.io How do you mean that far-left people would change licenses? As I see it, FLOSS development is already as far left as it can be: people build things together for the benefit of everyone. What could be more "left" than that?

@omgubuntu Waiting for my to break free from the duopoly.

Whatever happened to micro payments reagarding news?

I'd be far more willing to pay a small fee to read some articles, than to start a subscription. Subscriptions incentivize people to reduce the diversity of news they get, which AFAIK is a Bad Thing.

@kyle The beard is worse because it keeps growing back. It's easier with the swap partition, you can just not install it and be done. No shaving needed later on.

@js @jbauer @xerz Objective C++ is certainly wierd. What I meant was regular C++ vs Objective C -- do you prefer Objective C over regular C++ and why?

@js @jbauer @xerz What makes you prefer Objective-C over C++?

@syntax I didn't get my librem5 yet so this remains to be seen, but I think I will mostly kill WiFi and bluetooth but still have the cellphone part on because I normally want to be able to receive calls. But I appreciate having the option of turning everything off and still being able to use the phone (ok manybe not a "phone" anymore then, but a pocket computer anyway).

@ccamara @duckduckgo @pixelfed Yes, that's interesting. I've seem those ads in Stockholm as well. The times they are a-changin', maybe, finally?

@agx @purism Nice! Could that be used to signal different things using different light characteristics, like blinking slowly means "new email" and blinking quickly means "new sms"? Could be useful to get a quiet hint about what is happening while still leaving the screen off until the user turns it on.

@mc@mastodon.sdf.org Glad to see Pascal still being used! Decades since I used it now, but I remember it was nice, not as cryptic as C/C++ and such. For example, "begin" is easier to understand than {.

@Xjs @fribbledom I also heard about this as coming from Rawls. Apparently other philosophers earlier as well: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Veil_of_
