Where've I heard this story before? I recall something about how #mortgage-backed #securities became magically risk-free, then everyone put so much money into them, then... anyone remember 2008? Could we at least agree to not bail them out this time? That worked for #Iceland

How long will it take for #OpenAI to be charged with attacking other computing systems? If individuals were being found out doing all these things, they would likely already have been under intense investigation or been arrested.

It looks quite clear that #LLM #AI is on the same path at #Bitcoin but with a lot more money and industry behind it. Both are based on a small kernel of a good and useful idea. But the vast majority of what they are actually good for is shitty, anti-social, harmful, and all too often, criminal. Two recent examples:

@eighthave The SDK hands you five tools and no glue: aapt2, d8, zipalign, apksigner and bundletool each stand alone, and the only official way to chain them is the Gradle plugin, a JVM build for what is a shell script's worth of steps. Every wrapper is someone reaching for the shell script.
So I just saw this new #Android #build system #Lightbuild. It seems to be yet another wrapper project in the #AndroidSDK. What is it about Android that make it sprout so many wrapper layers? #OAT #DEX #JVM #Gradle #Groovy #Kotlin
Arms control treaties work. They are perfect example of how #AI could be regulated:

As far as #nature is concerned, a lawn is a desert. A ploughed field is a desert. Pavement is a desert. Europe has converted its landscape from forests, marshlands and lush greenery to ploughed fields, pavement, lawns, etc. So it is really no wonder that #Europe is now heating up and drying up so fast. We are forcing the #climate to become a #desert.
I really love to see #rewilding taking hold in big ways and in small. We can stop killing #nature where we live. It doesn't need to something we travel to see. It can be part of daily life in #urban environments
It works in even smaller than a #suburban garden. Songbirds, crickets and butterflies have come back to my bit of central #Vienna because we planted native plants in tree pits and window boxes. I pick #wild strawberries from my window in my 4th floor apartment😋
