@rene_mobile I totally agree, that sounds like a good idea. Do you think it would actually happen though? I could see it happening in some countries, but it seems quite unlikely to happen in the US or China. Honestly, I could see China holding executives accountable before the US does. Tech billionaires own the Federal Government and also key state governments.
So I just saw this new #Android #build system #Lightbuild. It seems to be yet another wrapper project in the #AndroidSDK. What is it about Android that make it sprout so many wrapper layers? #OAT #DEX #JVM #Gradle #Groovy #Kotlin
Arms control treaties work. They are perfect example of how #AI could be regulated:
"Treat compute, the main ingredient in AI training, like fissile material. Track it and restrict access to quantities large enough to improve AIs beyond known-safe levels."
https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2026/sep/14/google-deepmind-ai-warnings
#Luanti removed from Google Play due to baseless AI copyright notice
@shaknais Good question. I think it is very much an unanswered question whether AI code assistants violate copyright licenses. If you care about free software, I think your options are to avoid AI code assistants or train your own models using only code with compatible FOSS licenses.
While some many in the #EU were busy fussing about support the dying car industry, an industry of the past, they were letting EU #RenewableEnergy companies die, although that's clearly the industry of the future.

And #VW is dying anyway, despite bailouts and all that attention.
@IzzyOnDroid @fdroidorg A blanket ban harms more than it helps. There needs to be trust in maintainers. That's what FOSS is about. It is easy to spot AI slop in code.
For example, we get merge requests created with AI that are tightly focused. If we don't allow such things, we set ourselves up to be DDoSed by AI bots. They can spam a project with small, reasonable fixes that then cannot be merged when anything AI is banned. We'd have to do weird things to fix bugs just because of the ban
@mjg59 I think the right answer is to retain copyright, prevent it expanding, and bring it back to something like a 30 year term and limited to concerns about commercial distribution.
Judge #Donato does a #UX review of #GooglePlay in #EpicVGoogle 😂
That is highly entertaining to read. Let's see if #Google actually follows the direct orders from the judge. They are so lawyered up paid for with those sweet sweet #monopoly #profits, I imagine they'll still fight.
For me, there is still a big open question: should @fdroidorg add itself to Google Play? On one hand, we don't support anything proprietary, on the other, it makes it easy to install safely
"The land is just part of life. It’s a relative – something you celebrate and honour. You build a relationship to the landscape within your day-to-day practice.
"Capitalism and colonialism have interrupted those things. Within my art practice, I’m trying to seek them out."

As far as #nature is concerned, a lawn is a desert. A ploughed field is a desert. Pavement is a desert. Europe has converted its landscape from forests, marshlands and lush greenery to ploughed fields, pavement, lawns, etc. So it is really no wonder that #Europe is now heating up and drying up so fast. We are forcing the #climate to become a #desert.
I really love to see #rewilding taking hold in big ways and in small. We can stop killing #nature where we live. It doesn't need to something we travel to see. It can be part of daily life in #urban environments
It works in even smaller than a #suburban garden. Songbirds, crickets and butterflies have come back to my bit of central #Vienna because we planted native plants in tree pits and window boxes. I pick #wild strawberries from my window in my 4th floor apartment😋
Are you an expert? Know one? Maybe you want to wreak havoc or fix things from inside the machine?
Either way, #DigitalCommons #EDIC is asking for communities to step up and lend a hand.

I can imagine a #dystopian #climate movie where the #rain disappears and everything dries up in a epic #drought, then the only rain that ever comes is gianormous thunderstorms that only drop big hailstorms, further destroying the beleaguered plant life. Oh wait, that's reality right now in Vienna!
@pleasedodisturb @fdroidorg You're in luck, because the evidence points to F-Droid's default configuration being much safer than Google Play. F-Droid applies many effective measures that Google Play does not, like reviews on source, reproducible builds, publishing and archiving all parts of the process, FOSS-only policy, etc.
