@zyd@emacs.ch Librem 5, I'd say. There are some contenders to challenge it around; not there yet, but getting pretty close.

And I'm not saying that just because I have worked on it 😂 It's what I'm hearing from the users.

Dear companies,

please don't make having access to Google's or Apple's app stores to use your products a requirement.

This locks so many of us out because we either don't have a compatible device or the device doesn't have the software to access these services (like google play services).

Heading back to the UK from #FOSDEM and what an amazing event once again. The #LinuxOnMobile stand was packed for two days continuous and it was wonderful to talk to so may #SailfishOS users, users of other mobile Linux distros and curious explorers!

Thanks to our great stand partners: @mobian @Purism, @postmarketOS, @AsteroidOS, @ubports, #NemoMobile, @mntmn

@spacemanspiffy I'm a huge fan, I especially love "Highway to hell" 🔥

Thanks to everybody who visited the Linux on Mobile stand! At the postmarketOS part we had so many great conversations and a fun time showing all the UIs + devices running mainline linux! A small cheatsheet revealing itself below the Sxmo phone certainly helped, and a lot of people were excited to try it out.

Shout out to our friends from the projects next to us, as always it has been amazing to collaborate with everyone! 🥳

See you next year! :postmarketos:

First day at the #linuxmobile stand at #FOSDEM 2024 was packed! Our devroom is sadly over but we'll be at the stand for another day, so come on by if you haven't already!

phosh 0.36.0 is out 🚀📱:

Besides lots of smaller improvements and fixes the long press delay to unfold OSK is now configurable and you can rearrange your favorite apps in mobile settings (with GTK >= 4.13.12).

Check out the full release notes at phosh.mobi/releases/rel-0.36.0

Remember, today #FOSDEM and there is a great devroom on "FOSS on #mobileLinux". fosdem.org/2024/schedule/room/

Happen to not be in Brussels? Not an excuse as my livingroom setup proofs. I am all ready to listen the live steam and chat in #matrix room #2024-h.1309_van_rijn_:fosdem.org

Make sure to not miss out the talks by @awai @luva @z3ntu @cas @linmob @dcz @dos @braid @flypig @okias and others

@fosdem starts in about 9 hours now, so before I go to bed, I have to remind you all that starting 10:30, the "FOSS on Mobile Devices" devroom will welcome you and host an impressive number of quality talks about #LinuxMobile.

I'll even present myself, sharing some updates about @mobian at 17:30: fosdem.org/2024/schedule/event

@KitsuWhooa @fleischie28 TBH, I don't think this falls into Wayland's scope at all. This is something for a window management interface. X11 left it wide open for everyone as every client could do everything; now we're in a better world, but we kinda forgot about having an interoperable standard for that. There are extensions that do basic window management over Wayland, but their scope was so far mostly about things like taskbars.

Also, OMG this Thunderbird extension is such a bad hack 😂

@KitsuWhooa @fleischie28 I understand your frustration and even share some of it, but please remember that having a good answer to the question "why would you want to do that?" is the necessary first step to design a good protocol that solves actual use cases and ensures interoperability. The XY problem is real, and if "I want it to work the way X11 did" was the way to go there would be no need for Wayland at all.

@wolfskaempf @flow3rbadge Bluetooth audio won't fly, it's BLE-only. For the record, the latest firmware has a built-in music player app that plays MP3 & MOD files and can also stream over network.

@timnitGebru Just use an LLM to write your answer to their demands and profit!

@Idcrafter @linuxphoneapps Well and fast? :P

Seriously though, I can only speak for one app - my bank's, which complains about "rooted device" in its security overview screen, but doesn't actually block anything. I'm only using it for mobile one-time-token payments (Blik) anyway, as anything else is available through web browser.

@svgeesus @holypangolin That one was a ready-made model, but I did my own one for the display board on the other side. It was pretty simple - just made red PCB and black screen in FreeCAD and then combined that with generic pin header and pin socket models from KiCad's library directly in footprint properties. Still have to clean up some stuff there (the two sockets are separate footprints there), but that's the gist of it.

Did you hear the news? 📰

Our friends @rawrlabgames announced their FREE* #GodotEngine port for #NintendoSwitch!

Details here: rawrlab.com/godot_nintendo_swi

What a win for the community 🪙 Are we going to see an increase in Switch games made with Godot soon?

Hello 🌏 ! This is #phosh's mastodon account. It'll have phosh's release announcements and posts/boosts of related projects. Looking forward to an interesting and bright Linux mobile future 📱 .

@linuxphoneapps
1. Not sure what "favorite app" is supposed to mean, these are tools that let me do various things. I don't have a "favorite tool" in general either, at least not without additional qualifiers.
2. Yes, but mostly GTK.
3. Yes, for banking app.
4. Banking app. Maybe some local transit ticket stuff could be handy too. No.
5. PureOS.
6. Perhaps 😁
