So turns out I'm going to be speaking at #FOSDEM in February as part of the "FOSS on Mobile Devices" track. We'll go step-by-step through debugging a spontaneous modem reset issue that used to trouble the #Librem5 phone, which - spoiler alert - turned out to be a (not very well-)known bug in the #USB 2.0 spec. Because the abled world decided that COVID was over for them, COVID will seemingly never be over for some of us. All of the abled people who continue to whine about having to stay at home in 2020 (it was never lockdown, and I will never call it that) and how horrible it was to go without social interaction have pretty much ensured that some of us will never be able to socialize with anyone except through screens.
Hospitals are reinstating mask mandates and they’re still not getting it.

@sverx @sos It's pretty likely that one may be faster than the other, but which one would it be depends on data structures used and the architecture of the machine it runs on (most notably its caches).
You'd probably have to go orders of magnitude higher with the number of sprites & bullets for it to make any practical difference though 😂
A PC can have a touchscreen; a smartphone can have a keyboard, mouse and big display connected to it. Some tablets will run your mobile builds, but others will run your desktop builds. Don't lock your game's input device handling behind specific platform builds. You can and should support touchscreens in desktop builds and keyboards in mobile builds. #gamedev #indiedev

@kalisz79 @avolha Nie zwracajcie uwagi na termin wystawienia. Sprawdzałem kilka dni temu i nie było skierowania, mimo, że później się pojawiło z terminem wcześniejszym. Zapisy ruszyły dopiero szóstego.
Inna sprawa, że dzisiaj pojechałem na umówiony termin, a szczepionki nawet nie dojechały do przychodni 🤪

I can finally reveal some research I've been involved with over the past year or so.
We (@redford, @mrtick and I) have reverse engineered the PLC code of NEWAG Impuls EMUs. These trains were locking up for arbitrary reasons after being serviced at third-party workshops. The manufacturer argued that this was because of malpractice by these workshops, and that they should be serviced by them instead of third parti

@cas @jacqueline I keep hearing that take since at least 2008 and I couldn't agree less. Take an MCU and attach a modem module, it's a DIY project. But what would it be good for, for me at least? I'm working on all this stuff because I want/need a pocket computer with cellular Internet connection (and I'm already quite happy with what I got) - and since it has a cellular modem already, I don't want to have to carry another device just to occasionally answer calls from my mom :P
