Librem 5 protip: listening to music on a cheap pair of tiny in-ear headphones in a noisy environment? Enable HD Bass to wake the bass guitarist up:

amixer -D hw:L5 sset 'HD Bass' on

So yesterday I saw a @postmarketOS toot about their web flasher for Android devices, and I thought - how hard would it be to make one for L5? Turns out - not hard at all. Here it is booting Jumpdrive.

Some caveats:
- requires permission setting on Linux 😔 I may work out-of-box on other platforms though
- it's sloooow, but there's hope: github.com/WebAssembly/design/
- asks 5 times to allow access to the device. Could go down to 3, but no less than that.

Lesson in UI design: guess which element my sleep-deprived head decided to tap on.

Dyzio sends you best morning wishes - today, be as perfect as he is. Well, okay, at least half as perfect, that would already be great.

(slightly edited to focus on what's actually important 😼)

welcome to our hackerspace, you can find some hair elastics for your projects in a box over there

Many years ago I spent some time playing with running a graphical interface from chrooted Debian userspace on a jailbroken 1st gen Kindle Paperwhite. I posted a video that showed it and called it "Debian on Kindle Paperwhite". Some tech media had then picked it up and reported on Debian running on Kindle.

I'm sorry, it's all my fault. All those people calling Halium devices "real Linux phones" are just my karma coming back 😭
