#Fediverse, are you ready for the cutest thing ever?
My parent's cat loves sleeping on the dryer, but as he got older he was having a hard time jumping up to it. So my dad built him a little ramp 😭🐱
Bill Gates on the Windows user experience, in an internal email from 2004:
"Someone decided to trash the one part of Windows that was usable? The file system is no longer usable. The registry is not usable. This program listing was one sane place but now it is all crapped up. But that is just the start of the crap."
Amazing how little has changed in the last 15 years.
i just found out this exists and now i kinda really want it?

Holy smokes.
LibreOffice runs on the Librem 5!
AND IT WORKS.
Saving files, opening files, typing... the UI is a bit cramped (it's a desktop app on a phone)... but hot-diggity! It works!
I like to write my entries in markdown and I have a script to convert it to pretty html with CSS using pandoc in a temporary file. Since I use markdown I can even include pictures. I haven't really used this feature in a while, but it's still cool to have the option.
You can use tags with custom special characters to differenciate different types. I used @ for ppl and ^ for places. You can also keep your jrnl encrypted, and keep multiple jrnls.
First on the list: jrnl
https://github.com/jrnl-org/jrnl
jrnl is a simple journal application for your command line.
Since ditching FB about 3 yrs ago I wanted a way to document my life in an honest way for myself. A place I don't consciously or unconciously filter the bad parts out. My workflow normally is to use my Tandy WP-2 (https://redd.it/8gkeks) for a distraction free reflection on my thoughts, then upload via serial and import at the end of the week.
I want to start highlighting some #freesoftware that I like to use on the daily.
Just re-upping this offer: because being comfortable with git is a barrier to entry to many FS/OSS projects, and because I care deeply about lowering those barriers, I will tutor anyone who asks for help with git, and/or connect them with any mentor(s) they might prefer.
I'll do this while I put energy and work into making the tool more approachable, and into making better tools and learning paths.
Boosts gratefully appreciated.
Librem 5 shipping starting 24 September 2019 https://puri.sm/posts/librem-5-shipping-announcement/ #purism #linux #linuxphone #linuxmobile #gnome
Hahaha. I was just sitting here, wondering if it would become a thing (like LMGTFY) and, sure enough, someone did it. 😂
@palinuro we will be publishing a shipping schedule in a few days :)
Over the coming weeks leading up to the #Librem5 launch we will be sharing some special stories and photos to get everyone even more excited ;)
Let’s begin inside, here’s the first public photo of the final Librem 5 PCB featured in our CTO’s recent talk at #CCCamp https://puri.sm/posts/purism-cto-presents-a-mobile-phone-that-respects-your-freedom-at-cccamp/ #purism #smartphone #mobile #disruption #linux #linuxmobile #linuxphone #gnome
Looks like Spotify has recognized and promoted an idea to bring a "native" version to #Linux distributions like Arch and others.
