@christitus @hikariknight We can only hope. There's a lot of stubborn people I've met who want the world to change before they switch themselves. Such people tell me Mastodon isn't "relevant" anymore too. But I guess in reality, I've come to the conclusion that I probably just suck at "selling the platform" so to speak. :P
@mike @christitus @mattmcnutt@fosstodon.org Agreed, Mike. It's not a big deal. In fact, I had completely forgotten about it 'till Chris brought it up in a video. Honestly, I would even argue that the term would bring in more people. There are a good handful of people that like it when devs work hard on a project but don't take themselves too seriously. Personally not something I look for but some people value that.
@christitus @mattmcnutt Many Americans find the term comical to start, but seem to get over it quickly. Eugen has discussed it ad nauseam in the past, and has even volunteered to change it if people felt it was a barrier to adoption. The general consensus of Mastodon users seems to be that it's not a big deal.
When @Hbomberguy asked me to change the "publish" button to "toot" I wasn't aware that some regions (USA?) use that as slang for farts rather than the noise that elephants and trumpets make.
And it's pretty damn annoying to hear that take/joke over and over and over and over again. Realistically, "tweet" is just as much nonsense. Birds don't tweet, they chirp, that's not a common word. But it's already ingrained in people's minds so to them tweet is serious and toot is not.

@ariella Ah, I see. I'm wondering if you might have file integrity issues if you pre-fetch on mobile as well. Not even sure if you would want to or can. I wouldn't know if the issue is only related specifically to the add-on but it might be something to test. Anyways, how long has this music add-on been around?
@ariella Hm... I guess I'll need to change some FLAC's to something that's not as heavy if I'm going to use it on my phone. The contacts thing also sounds pretty cool. Now I'll have to look into that too! :P
@ariella Oh dang, I didn't know about that. That looks super cool. I think I'll take some time to set up NextCloud today... :D
