Podcasts (3/3)

The gnome podcast notifications are cool.

Here’s one on the lock screen while a podcast is running. The other is in the notification area of the settings panel (shown on top of a blank browser page).

@tapaniraja I use Timeshift since my last data loss because it even saves the whole OS. I once accidentally deleted my root partition and Timeshift saved my ass 😂

@vancha I am also quit happy with this progress. Programming in C is not as easy as Python due to a much lower amount of examples. But the GTK documentation is really helpful and I read a lot of other open source projects.

I figured out how to make my plots dynamic! 😍 3D animations will be implemented in Picplanner soon!

@tapaniraja Lightroom was much harder to replace!
LRs user interface is SO easy and simple and the results are perfect with just a view clicks.
I tried Darktable but struggled a lot to realise my goals and it was much to slow. For professional editing it was not fast enough in my opinion.
But then I tried RawTherapee again and after 2 weeks reading the documentation I understood how to use it correctly. The results were awesome. One day later I deleted my dual boot Windows 😂

@tapaniraja Yes, most people say that but haven't tried anything else. I worked 6.5 years professionally with Adobe but I ditched Photoshop 3 Years ago and used GIMP even though people say that GIMP is so much worse. BUT there are Open Source GIMP Plugins like GMIC and Resynthesizer and these makes GIMP a killer tool!

My first picture edited with my new workflow and 100% software!
As RAW converter was used and for selective editing was the programme of choice. My OS is of course 😄
I deleted Windows with all my products three months ago... And it was a good decision! 😅

plot_circle: I have added a new function to my minimalistic 3d plotting library 😄
❗I moved my project on Gitlab to another account name❗

@vancha And furthermore I don't have to plug in the phone or have to use an emulator. I can directly test it on my normal PC. In Gnome Builder I click play and I instantly see my results :)

@vancha I was really surprised that there was no error while installing on the Librem 5 image 😂
My first time I installed my app from source on a different OS than usual and then it worked immediately without any bugs 😅 This is so much more fun than programming for Android! 😅

First test on the qemu image was successful. My first Linux app fits well :)
I also started to write a plot library based on Cairo to realise a virtual representation of the 3D data.

So many people saying they're switching from Firefox. Won't this only make the problem worse?

If you're switching to Brave or qutebrowser or UnGoogled Chromium or something, you're only strengthening Google's monopoly. If you're switching to a Webkit-based browser like Epiphany, you're shifting the monopoly towards Safari, whose parent company doesn't consider the Web a priority.

That Mozilla has bad management doesn't change the fact that Firefox is the most viable option for the open web.

If you didn't port your app to libhandy 1, now is the best time. We even have a migration guide to help you! gnome.pages.gitlab.gnome.org/l

If you ported to a libhandy 1 alpha, I also strongly recommend you to update to 0.90 as you are guaranteed you won't have to change a thing after.

This extensive and thoughtful post by a member of the community does a good job of explaining the past and present mobile Linux ecosystem and why Purism's approach with phosh makes strategic sense long-term. amosbbatto.wordpress.com/2020/

@vancha Thanks a lot! I will give an update in a view weeks and if I am stuck anywhere completely I will definitely ask 😅

@vancha I hope my new post can answer your questions 😅

I am now on with my application designed for the (with ).
The Idea is to give photographers the possibility to calculate the position of the sun, moon and milky way to plan the perfect spot to take a picture.

I am not a programmer so please tell me if you would do something differently.
AND if you know how to make a 3D plot of a coordinate system in C (similar to matplotlib in python) please tell me! 😅

@vancha Yes I am still working on this every free minute I have 😅 But I am not a programmer, never coded in C before and never made an app for Linux before so it takes me quite long to realise the graphical part of the programme 😅 But I love C so much more than Java on Android! 😄

@vancha At least you haven't lost your humour while waiting 😂 I am waiting for Fir......... 😭
