@pkimpton my problem is about the small tweaks und tools... Firewall setup? Backup setup? Etc. All those little things you don't see when working, but might hurt when missed
@pkimpton that's why I don't like to do fresh install. There is so much to do and so much to forget about.. 😉
@pkimpton nice!
@pkimpton cool
@pkimpton hm okay... Installing on a USB drive? Deleting a running Linux hurts so much
@pkimpton really from scratch? How about trying in a VM first?
What os have you chosen?
@pkimpton well I think I'll give PIA a try. Do have have any concerns about PIA?
@pkimpton that's what I mean ... I don't know what can be trusted when reading all those reviews
@pkimpton well I was also thinking about proton but then I found this article https://steigerlegal.ch/2019/05/23/protonmail-real-time-surveillance/
Now I found MullvadVPN which also sounds good first... I am not sure if I need a VPN at all... You just shift from "trust your ISP" to "trust the VPN-provider".
Is it really more secure?!
Why don't you want the librem.one tunnel?
@pkimpton as desktop OS I came to Debian.
@pkimpton have you tried sockstat to see what is using the port?
@purism yeah I like this. But I'd like to see some longer videos. All videos of the devkit I saw run just done seconds.
@pkimpton ah ok...
@pkimpton I love metal for over 20 years. But what the heck is pirate?!
@pkimpton sure. Since letsEncrypt anyone can have trusted certificates for free. But https never said a website would be "safe". It just says this site belobgs to the certificate. But malicious men did not want to buy a certificate. Now they can make their own... Yea
@kyle Holidays in the moon? 😁
@aytac@chaos.social jain.
After reading about some #vpn providers I feel that none of them are really trustworthy. For every positive review you find the are two negative ones. It is hard to prove if it is real or not.
Many negative reviews talk about privacy problems (which is the core of such service) and give me the feeling as if it was sponsored by a competitor. Very shady. It feels add using a VPN would reduce my privacy, not enhance it.
