Having been active in the BonsaiBIM.org (formally BlenderBIM) & OSArch.org communities for many years, I can tell you that the blood, sweat, and tears on this release was palpable.
I know the core developers sacrificed a lot of their time to root out a lot of elusive and temperamental bugs.
It just feels like an ideal time to show our appreciation.
In that light, if this software is useful to you in your daily production, please consider funding further development.
#Bonsai v0.8.0 has been released with 1,357 (!!!) new features / fixes. Improvements in #NativeIFC drawings, solar analysis, light sim, IFC4X3 support, wall tool, georeferencing, web UI and more!

It's our built environment, help support Bonsai: 100% free & open source software that lets you author and document BIM data fully to ISO standards.

Chat client Chatty will drop XMPP support.
Unless someone starts maintaining that part. This could be YOU!
https://gitlab.gnome.org/World/Chatty/-/issues/842
This is apparently the only client that supports both XMPP and Matrix and it would be sad to see it losing support.
A while ago I whipped up a prototype in nvim-dap to support fallback language interpreters that are used in the REPL if there is no active debug session.
With a bundled implementation for Lua. Demo:
I'm still not sure if that's still in scope and if I should finish and merge it.
If you'd like to see this merged, maybe leave some feedback or upvote the PR https://github.com/mfussenegger/nvim-dap/pull/1281

Got myself a piantor pro and looove it!
Ok my head is spinning for those 3 thumbkey options but still. The open chests feels great.
PSA that the #OSArch (OSArch.org - community.OSArch.org) community forums has been under a DDoS attack for just over a day now. Anybody experienced with who can help provide some advice for a FOSS volunteer hosted site on the best way forward to stop this and in the future please send me a DM :) #opensource #openbim
@EC_NGI and @nlnet make a dramatic impact to improve our sustainable, privacy and attention respecting #linuxmobile ecosystem. One of the very few answers we have to the duopoly of Android and iOS from Silicon Valley!
Because of that we are saddened about the @EUCommission not mentioning NGI programmes anymore in their draft of funding programmes for 2025. 😢
We signed the open letter, consider doing the same if your project received funding in the past.

OK that #Microsoft #AI CEO said that "everyone can copy [...]it's freeware"
So since #Windows iso images are available we can copy them, it's freeware.
The same with all the licensed Microsoft #GitHub repositories too then ?
If paying is not owning, if creating is not owning, piracy isn't stealing then.

Does anybody have a used corne style #splitkeyboard to give away or a recomendation for buying one in europe?
I don't want to solder myself this one but give it a try.
So far you had to pull out #phosh's top and bottom bar quiet a bit to make it unfold. That's kind of o.k. on 📱 like the #Librem5 or #PinePhone but can be cumbersome on larger phones like the #OnePlus6T or tablets like the #Librem11. I've put out an MR for #phoc which adds a fling #gesture so you can also fold/unfold with a fast swipe. Here's a short video demoing this for different screen sizes:
We have some great news about Railway: It is no longer limited to the HAFAS API that Deutsche Bahn uses! 🎉
Now, you can test the Swiss SBB on Flathub beta (https://flathub.org/beta-repo/appstream/de.schmidhuberj.DieBahn.flatpakref).
There you can also use Transitous – with worldwide coverage based entirely on community-aggregated open data sources. Not as reliable and up-to-date as our other providers, but you can get involved to improve it.
Feel free to share feedback with us over at https://matrix.to/#/%23railwayapp:matrix.org.
Today's new tiny project:
A JSON schema file for all the debug adapters configuration properties that can be used in a launch.json file.
If you're using the vscode-json-languageserver this will result in completion candidates and validation capabilities.
vscode itself unfortunately relies on extensions defining the schema in a package.json, coupled with client specific settings.
https://github.com/mfussenegger/dapconfig-schema
(So far only java and python are partically covered)

My work on hprofdap made me think that some kind of query language support would be neat to have in nvim-dap. Jq like syntax, with interactive view like ijq maybe?
On the other hand - I always have to open up the jq manual when I do something other than a simple ".some_key" and given that most debug adapters support expression evaluation you can use that to make transformations.
