I have a separate number for it and a SIM-card I do not normally use, it's in a separate phone and I only enable it when I need to log into one of these "services". Now they are threatening to take it away from me and get that number blocked because I refuse to provide the carrier with up-to-date data on my real life identity, lol 🤣
Yep, not exactly what most people are willing to go through 😅

That is why I have JS disabled by default in uBO and I only see a spinning something when I open a Misskey instance — so I see this is a Misskey instance and have the opportunity to just close the tab 🤭

@Tony
Well, there is this: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Boys
It ain't bad, but not as enjoyable as the show itself IMO and it develops the lore of The Boys' world, has little to do with the main plot.
Kinda a thing of its own.

Okay, this one is just relatively new and (of course) I haven't watched it yet, what do you consider the fifth season then (or the third one chronologically) — the animated thing? 🤔

@Monsignor_DickFace

@Tony @Monsignor_DickFace
Third season was a mistake though, looks like its production was badly mismanaged, just as it starts developing into something proper, it feels like the production team had been told: "Okay, guys, we're out of budget, let's somehow wrap it up!". And it ends… rather abruptly IMO 🤷

@Hyolobrika
As of recently, I feel this way quite often. I'm still fine reading a book about it, but not so much — debating about this stuff online, I suppose it just gets old eventually, and you can't convince everyone anyway — at least not in this manner.

@EricIndiana
> Sometimes they bring their toys to me in bed.
Mine do that all the time! Often in a stealthy manner: sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night with one of their smaller toys in my side 😹

@newt @thatbrickster
I might get one for free soon! Core2Duo would be perfect for me.
That video chip used to work well, problems came with recent incarnations of Mesa when priorities shifted, for some software it might make sense to force software rendering, some things (e.g. ioquake3) work fine as they are. As for resolution, my old T43 and T40 work fine — I mean, yeah, you won't be doing CAD work at such a resolution — that's for sure, but for terminal stuff and web browsing it's fine.

@newt @nullenvk
Yep, it's either X60 or X61 without the docking station, but with extended battery and yes, fingerprint reader was optional at that time, they've had like dozen subtypes of every model — I've had T43 both with and without FP-scanner.

@Hyolobrika
Same with cryptocurrencies — they mostly don't care when it's individuals paying for domain names and even weed with Bitcoin, but when it came to large money-laundering operations European governments have demonstrated that they can shut those down with ease — and it's not really that hard since cryptocurrencies are only used as an intermediate for transfers, but final destination is still converting it to fiat currencies — and they can of course control that.

@Hyolobrika
I think it's actually the opposite — the governments demonstrated the ability to regulate both quite well: in many countries using Bittorrent has been pushed into grey area, most prefer to use VPN or rent offshore seedboxes to not do that on their own machine over direct Internet connection and individuals aren't who they are really cracking down on, a lot of popular torrent sites have been eventually shut down, most recent being RARBG.

@Hyolobrika
Centralised body can hinder peer-to-peer network from functioning, just as it can do with anarchy. Not every p2p network threatens centralised authority that is why no action it taken against most of them, anarchy on the other hand…

@TimeSpent
These Olympic games can be one of the most antisemitic since 1936 irregardless of Israel's existence. And Israeli athletes are facing it — poor wording perhaps, but no contradiction 🤷
