@scops My phone is not officially supported, it's a community port so I think it will be even worse for me if I upgrade. And my carrier's equipment went out for more than 10 hours after the thunderstorm. So neither IPv4 nor IPv6 work. The situation is pretty dire 😅

@slash Yup! I did have to take a lot of cruft out of Win11. Telemetry aside, I also don't like this "new" Chromium-based Edge and WebView2, I use Firefox so I don't need it at all. Good thing all of this can be done using OS tools alone: either Remove-AppxPackage in Powershell or WinGet — new thing, something like a package manager for third-party software. Widgets no longer work, I don't need them anyway — everything else works as expected. Even better without it 😄

@a1ba Friends of mine took in a kitten like this one — tiny but with long fur. When it grew up it became huge. Well, the cat is of normal size, but with fur like that it looks ridiculously big 😮

They have even released a version of OS that you could log into using root account and empty password at some point 🤦
Apple WAS good. Sadly, not anymore.

Last time I tried it kinda worked in linux, at least the output, but I think using it for anything serious would be a world of pain 😣

Never spend a cent on '11 MBP! Hardware is ok on paper, but there were complaints about faulty GPUs since launch. I had no issues. Then in 3y or so Apple acknowledges the problem and starts a replacement program. I don't care as mine works fine. When the program ends in 2 months GPU in mine dies!🤬 No more external display, but it worked with iGPU. And in a couple of months my then-girlfriend fucked it up beyond repair somehow. I just cracked it open, took out RAM and SSD and put it on the shelf.

@slash Windows 11 is not THAT bad. When I read about it and looked at the screenshots I hated it. But I gave it a try by installing the ARM edition on my old Lumia phone. Having desktop OS on a phone IS sick and twisted 😂 But it's hooked up to a TV, keyboard and mouse so it's almost a normal computer.
Thing is, it's not worse than any other Windows, I liked tiles more, but the new Start menu is okay, new window management features in the vein of tiling WMs are cool and the rest is just bearable.

@slash @projectmirai39 Likewise here! Almost every other computer I have runs linux, except for my old trashpile Mac Pro. Windows is surprisingly good at dealing with poor EFI implementations, old Apple EFI is broken in so many ways, but, aside from the fact that Windows wants to get installed on the first disk only, so you have to remove all other disks and put them back in after installation, it works well with it.
And I still want a system that can run some proprietary software, so why not?

So true! I can't even imagine how MIDI stuff works if just getting audio in and out is this cursed. Windows is broken in many ways too, but at least it works. Good thing I have a Mac for my audio production needs.

IT is fun as a hobby — not so if it's your primary job. A lot of tech things are so ugly, but you just can't avoid them if it is your job, so you just start hating everything about it 😩
