@slash @projectmirai39 Likewise here! Almost every other computer I have runs linux, except for my old trashpile Mac Pro. Windows is surprisingly good at dealing with poor EFI implementations, old Apple EFI is broken in so many ways, but, aside from the fact that Windows wants to get installed on the first disk only, so you have to remove all other disks and put them back in after installation, it works well with it.
And I still want a system that can run some proprietary software, so why not?
@m0xee @projectmirai39 I too have an old macpro (5,1), proxmox on that machine and one day I’ll actually be able to pay the power bill to use it.
I am now mainlining linux since I made that post though, I made a poorly timed choice to jump on a prebuilt during a sale and I’ve got a newer desktop now daily running Garuda linux with the win7 desktop still hooked up through KVM for the photography workflow. Gaming has been mostly unaffected, so at this point the older tower really is just there to run Affinity Photo and syncthing to the main machine.
