Chief People Officer sounds like someone that's in charge of sourcing materials for soylent green.

@dynamic If the family with more money has more money due to higher wages, then they'll assume a higher labor cost and price that component of their bread higher.

The family with less money is more likely to give free bread to other families with less money, which will reduce the average price per loaf.

It's not just about 20, or 50 or 70 trees, as gorgeous as they are and for all they do. It's that Enbridge needs to normalize its ability to trample on local and state rights, to condition us to believe they can get away with anything they want, even to dismiss proper legal procedure by waving what they see as the almighty federal gas act around. But the gas act, sweeping as it is, doesn't grant Enbridge the right to circumvent process. Now is the time to call them on it. They have no defense.

A People's Guide to Abolition and Disability Justice is “an essential movement tool. Tastrom convincingly shows that police and prison abolition and disability justice are core strategies for liberation and that we can't win one without the other.”

"Also, our president now, William Ruto, is one of 6 guys who were sent to stand trial at the ICC for crimes committed during the political violence of 2007-2008, but his case was dismissed in 2016. His lawyer, Karim Khan, became the ICC prosecutor in 2021, and I think the convenience around all this is just too stark. It looks to me as though, in exchange for what was a good deal for him, Ruto agreed to serve the Western agenda and...pledged 1000 Kenyan police to Haiti."

I'm going to regret wading into Linux accessibility discussion, but I think part of the problem is that some people don't seem to realise that describing systems or behaviours as ableist (or racist, or any other -ism) is not the same as accusing the person who participates in or builds these systems of consciously hating or being prejudiced against disabled people

TLDR; EPA discovered that Apple was:
- illegally treating hazardous waste
- illegally transporting hazardous waste to disposal facilities
- illegally dumping hazardous waste into the ambient air outside the facility (into the apartment windows)
- leaving stockpiles of extremely dangerous chemicals unattended on weekends

The geo-politics of climate geo-engineering is set to become a thing. A good example is the recent finding that tweaking the Californian climate to lower temperatures would likely result in heatwaves in the EU.

It's as though we're running out of different ways to find out we all share the same atmosphere.

Hey Mastodon,

I'm looking for a well put together written case for institutions (academic, professional) to set up their own Mastodon instance.

Something that not only highlights the obvious benefits, but also that the technical costs are within the capacity of most places that have a decent IT department.

Please do not make the case here, I'm looking for links. 😜

Boost for visibility, plz?

@Properganda @cmccullough @dangillmor we’ve been demanding the same shit for decades. Neither the GOP nor the Dems have any interest in actually moving the needle. They’ve all had their chances and proven time and time again that they _are both_ corrupt and greedy. Come back to this thread in 2028 when the Democrats have once again let you down.

@dangillmor This is absolute bullshit. A vote for Jill Stein is a vote for Jill Stein (or any other candidate they choose to vote for). I am absolutely sick of Democrats blaming third-party voters for the issue within their own party. Here's an idea: Fix the fucking problems in your Party. People are voting for other candidates because they are increasingly becoming sick of the broken, corporate two-party system in the US.

We are all paying much higher utility bills because of "AI" uses vast, vast amounts of water and fuel.

But we don't know how much higher, because the "AI" companies are systematically hiding those costs from the public -- and lawmakers/regulators are doing essentially nothing to force disclosure.

Is there a bird that's kinda like a northern flicker, but without the spots? I see them all the time and maybe I'm just spots-blind.

My first time getting published in a book, and it's a rad one! My chapter is called "Smashing Whiteness: Race, Class, and Punk Culture in the Love and Rage Revolutionary Anarchist Federation (1989-1998)." Published in Europe by Active Distribution and available soon in the US via @pmpress

@ubersoft I'm stuck with using Windows in my day job and Google apps on my side gig. Both I can limit to work related accounts, but still leaves a bad taste.
