We always hear about debt to GDP, but hardly ever hear about household debt to household income. In the USA, household debt was approximately 60% of household income in 1970 (using that date as 2 car households were the norm by then); by 2005, household debt was approximately 120% of household income. Are we all just idiots "keeping up with the Joneses", or is the USA economy broken?
