Well. LibreOffice successfully installed on the Librem 5!
But... I mean... It won't actually run.
... will it?
LibreOffice runs on the Librem 5!
AND IT WORKS.
Saving files, opening files, typing... the UI is a bit cramped (it's a desktop app on a phone)... but hot-diggity! It works!
Actually android has a similar experience.
By swiping up from the navigation bar, you open the multitasking view, which has a small dock on the bottom.
If you swipe up again, you open the entire app drawer
@lunduke isn’t that pretty much how gnome is?
One of the first things I'm going to do when I get mine is put dosbox on it and then see if it'll run wizardry 7. If it does, it'll be nirvana.
@lunduke Whats the deal with your librem 5, it doesn't seem to charge? Asides from the initial charge from manufacture every photo shows it on charge and empty.
Also you promised videos! um pretty please :)
@lunduke only Good if you can play Doom!!
@lunduke PalmOS? Of course, that was because the only way to switch tasks in it was to just launch the program again.
@lunduke I know Android 9 and up have a small row of apps it thinks you may want to launch at the bottom of the task management screen. But it's nothing compared to what it seems like PureOS here is doing.
@lunduke I think there were things like Palm OS, Jolla and Blackberry OS?
@lunduke what is the accessibility like? Are their any options for us with low vision/blindness?
@lunduke I think the way Sailfish OS does it, it's slightly better, as it dedicates the whole screen to the task switching grid.
@mariusor Sailfish definitely does it in an interesting way. I find the differences in task switching/management between different systems oddly fascinating. :)
@lunduke for me personally Purism's decision to not go with Sailfish or Nemo as an OS was the deciding factor in not supporting their campaign. Yet I am very happy their OS version is fulfilling other people's needs and that we have more options for non-Adroid linux mobile OSes. Maybe an application ecosystem will finally start growing... I know that on Sailfish it's a bit sparse at the moment. :D
@lunduke PS. sorry for getting off topic from your thread. :D
@lunduke Man, that’s some clean UI!
@lunduke I love the both together like that! It makes so much sense to be honest.
The Librem 5 is so exciting and I cannot wait to be able put my money towards this absolutely delightful project!
