#Twitter suspends #Mastodon account, prevents sharing links: Our statement
https://blog.joinmastodon.org/2022/12/twitter-suspends-mastodon-account-prevents-sharing-links/
@katherined gotta love Joomla! Been building sites on the CMS for about 15 years or so and volunteering with them for about 10. So many amazing volunteers.
I've been invited to do an AMA on Reddit tomorrow. Verifying that's really me!

@mglaman And you are very welcome. :)
@mglaman Thank YOU!
@mglaman @duane @katherined @jessicasachs @Shini92 indeed! The work he and others have done have absolutely transformed major Drupal upgrades — super simple now!
@duane @jessicasachs @Shini92 And speaking of testing, I must tag @mglaman whose work on phpstan with Drupal (and many other things) inspired this post. Sometimes you skim past a random post somewhere that reminds you to say thanks once in a while. :)
@katherined my favorite undermaintained project is #XCSoar https://xcsoar.org
Its a GPL2 FOSS tactical glide computer that many #paraglider and #soaring pilots rely on for making 500+km flights just with wind and sun. The appstore download has 100'000 users and very few contributers: https://github.com/XCSoar/XCSoar/graphs/contributors
@katherined I love this!
I'd like to tag @jessicasachs, @Shini92, and the rest of the new faker.js team on #GratitudeTuesday and thank them for their work over the last year after the previous maintainer rage-quit the project. It's an important tool for testing, and testing is important for security and reliability. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
@duane @jessicasachs @Shini92 This is a perfect example! There are so many people quietly carrying a lot of our virtual baggage, and I'd like to know more about them all.
I think we should start #GratitudeTuesday (or any day) to acknowledge people quietly doing the work that keeps us all running, keeps us secure, keeps our businesses running. What is your favorite under-acknowledged #opensource project that many rely on and doesn't get enough attention? Or your favorite contributor who always seems to be plugging along making sure those projects are healthy?
@mglaman I continue to be inspired by your awesome. :)
I had a great time merging work and fun for this week's @reality2cast. My very knowledgeable teammate @eze_lanza lent his extensive #AI expertise and filled in so much we would have missed otherwise. I think we did this conversation about #ChatGPT justice. 🤩 Thanks, Eze!

I direct this to my many TWiT/TWiG friends: Now's the time of hear to buy yourself -- or buy a friend -- membership in Club Twit. @leo and the team work hard to bring us joy every week. Advertising ain't what it used to be. Just as Mastodon frees us from the dominance of the ad-supported, attention-based market of old social media, so do we have the chance to support more of @TWiT ourselves. OpenAI releases Point-E, an AI that generates 3D models | TechCrunch - https://techcrunch.com/2022/12/20/openai-releases-point-e-an-ai-that-generates-3d-models/
The next breakthrough to take the AI world by storm might be 3D model generators. This week, OpenAI open sourced Point-E, a machine learning system that creates a 3D object given a text prompt. According to a paper published alongside the code base, Point-E can produce 3D models in one to two minutes on a single Nvidia V100 GPU.
New episode is out! @dsearls and @katherined talk to @eze_lanza and Tony Mongkolsmai about #ChatGPT, generative #AI, and #opensource software.

This is absolutely insane. A mom was prevented from taking her daughter to a Christmas show at Radio City Music Hall because she works for a law firm litigating against the venue's parent company. They spotted her with facial recognition technology according to this report: https://www.nbcnewyork.com/investigations/face-recognition-tech-gets-girl-scout-mom-booted-from-rockettes-show-due-to-her-employer/4004677/
