First-ever Gitea pull request from a remote instance!!! 🎉🥳

git.exozy.me/Ta180m/Hello-worl

I've been waiting for this moment for months now!

The code hasn't been pushed to gitea.com/Ta180m/gitea yet since it's incredibly messy, but I'll clean it up tomorrow and also submit a draft pull request to upstream Gitea.

Every year in the summer in we have a competition of the portuguese media to see who can be the worst at covering the summer forest fires:

nitter.net/tomahock/status/154

In this case a person fighting a fire is asking the reporters to move their vehicle to somewhere else because it is blocking the passage.

The reporter answers: sure as soon as we finish the live report.

This comment by John Bolton reminded me of a "joke" some friends of mine had many years ago:

Q: What is the one country on Earth that never had a coup de etat?

A: The US. Because it is the one country on Earth that does not have a US embassy.

John Bolton (former US ambassador to the UN and former US National Security advisor): “As someone who has helped plan coups de etat — not here but, you know, other places — it takes a lot of work”

Got friends in central Portugal and the area is burning (again) people have already lost their homes (poor migrants living in caravans etc.)
Looking to help out with setting up some kind of crowd fund raising money to try replace the necessities. Anyone got any experience of a good platform to use for thid kind of thing?

"Fani: I have seen references about #sustainability in #Librem5. At the #FSFE we are also dealing with sustainability in software. What do you understand as a sustainable technology? [..]

Guido: For me, technology that has been produced with sustainability in mind allows the user to replace software and parts, as well as #repair the device over a long period of time without special equipment. [..] having free drivers is a requirement for sustainability."

Kanthaus turned 5 today! 5️⃣ 🎂

(Kanthaus is a common house for purposeful project work(ers) that I helped set up and continue to spend a lot of time in, in Germany.)

It's been a ride 🖤

Read the interview with Guido Günther, a developer at Purism, on how the free and convergent #PureOS system and the #Phosh graphical environment merge the phone and desktop experience into one, and how they benefit mobile device users.

Thanks to the kind work of our volunteer translators, you can also read it in Dutch, Italian, and Spanish.

Just testing a newer kernel for Jumpdrive on the #librem5. Serial console access in u-boot and the kernel is a must!

I just released a new version of "cast", which is my GNU/Linux (mobile first) app for viewing Swedish public service TV.

Get it while it is fresh: code.smolnet.org/micke/cast/re

📱 On my way to and it was the first time I could show the QR code of a train ticket on 's lockscreen to the conductor (had to resort to unlock ➡️ nautilus ➡️ evince so far).

For that I stitched together a lockscren plugin that leverages 's libevince. Hope the other tickets will works just as well tomorrow.

Today (5.07.2022) starting from 21:00 CET we are going to do some maintenance work on disroot. As result there will be short downtimes of following services:

🌨️ Nextcloud (cloud.disroot.org)

📬 Webmail (mail.disroot.org)

📨 Email server (imap/smtp://disroot.org)

🎩 Lufi (upload.disroot.org)

💾 PrivateBin (bin.disroot.org)

🗒️ Etherpad (pad.disroot.org)

⏱️ A minute long downtime on all services

Remember when they sneered at Geocities pages for being unusable eyesores? It's true, those old sites had some, uh, *idiosyncratic* design choices, but at least they reflected a real person's exuberant ideas about what looked and worked well. Today's web is an unusable eyesore *by design*.
