If former US presidents where prosecutable every US president since at least Nixon would have been in Jail.
The policy of prosecuting former presidents is an assurance for whoever the current is president that he he wont go to jail for whatever he does like start a war on false pretenses (e.g Iraq, etc)
It's a "feature" of the current system, not "a flaw". And it sucks.
I think Mastodon people should use the "like" button more.
People are told not to like because liking doesn't broadcast posts like boosting does, and the site needs boosts. And replies are preferred because they're deeper engagement or something.
But, on some level, we want people to keep using Mastodon. If someone posts something and followers like it, they know stuff is getting seen here and they'll want to keep using the site. I just don't see what's gained by holding back on the likes
This screen that #Google shows on #Android when installing #FDroid really bugs me. It is purely based on the integer value targetSdkVersion, without considering our security model, public audits results, track record over 10+ years, exclusive use of memory safe languages, or even what our code actually does. It is as if #FDroid marked anything that comes from Google as containing ads and trackers. 1/2
Google made it official that important apps like Messaging and Dialer are no longer maintained in the Android Open Source project. A free Android on its own is pretty much useless now.

It's summer on the northern hemisphere again 😎 so #phosh's automatic high contrast mode got two updates that are already merged and hence will very likely be in 0.29.0:

O evento de ontem dedicado ao @homeassistant foi um enorme sucesso devido à enorme e muito entusiástica participação da comunidade, muito no espírito que pretendemos de ser um espaço que dá a oportunidade à comunidade de partilhar conhecimento.
Muito obrigado a todos!
The bad thing about running #Debian #Unstable is that you can't upgrade it to the new stable release (as many Debian users seem to do today — #ReleasingDebianBookworm ) as it more or less already _is_ the new stable release. The good thing about Debian Unstable is: You'll get all the new shiny (and buggy 😉) software versions again after a stable release. #MakingUnstableUnstableAgain 🤪
@debian 👏 👏 👏 congrats!
The time between the release of "bullseye" to "bookworm" was 1 year, 9 months, and 28 days. #ReleasingDebianBookworm #Debian12 #Debian
There are 15,396,464 source files in Debian 12. #ReleasingDebianBookworm #Debian12 #Debian
Before we sign off we wish to say thank you to all of our Developers, Contributors, Sponsors, Friends, and Users for the amazing support and community building that we have all done over the years. We hope you enjoy Debian 12 "bookworm"! Thank you, thank you all very much! #ReleasingDebianBookworm #Debian12 #Debian
The new non-free-firmware section of the bookworm archive is opt-in. Do not forget to include it when updating your source lists if you wish to opt into binary firmware for your device. #ReleasingDebianBookworm.
Congrats to our friends at @debian on the successful release of the newest version of the "universal operating system": Debian 12, aka Bookworm

#Wikipedia runs on #Debian because of its commitment to stability, security and software freedom. We'll be upgrading to bookworm soon!
