I'm looking for a privacy respecting GPS bike computer. I'm not interested in pairing to an Android/iPhone smartphone, I'm trying to get rid of mine! I don't want to have to register to an online account or install a program on Windows or macOS, as I run Linux at home. I want to be able to upload map updates (OSM preferred) and download gpx traces from a regular file browser through USB... Cadence monitor compatible a +.
Mission impossible?
Thx!
Rand Paul on further lockdowns and mandates:
"Resist.
They can’t arrest us all. They can’t keep all your kids home from school. They can’t keep every government building closed – although I’ve got a long list of ones they should.....
We don’t have to accept the mandates, lockdowns, and harmful policies of the petty tyrants and feckless bureaucrats. We can simply say no, not again.
Audacity updated their Privacy Policy and it looks concerning: to include selling personal user related data (including what they say w/be "hashed ip address").
I cover the privacy policy and offer 4 different potential solutions to restrict Audacity here in my latest post:

If I could help computer users understand one thing it would be that unless something changes, their future computer will be locked down like their phone, so they can only install software if the OS vendor approves. I talk about this in a new blog post: https://puri.sm/posts/the-future-of-computers-the-neighborhood-and-the-nursing-home/
Are mass software updates abused in the name of "security”? All software updates can be done where it respects the freedoms and civil liberties of humans says Purism founder, Todd Weaver. What do you think?🤔 Read more: https://puri.sm/posts/software-updates-that-respects-civil-liberties/
Why Purism will not get a warrant for your phone nor phone data, because everything you buy from us, you own fully. In the latest case, Apple gets the warrant because they own the user’s data. Read more from Purism founder, Todd Weaver https://puri.sm/posts/apples-subpoenas-show-they-own-you/
