#Google is trying again to convince you, YES YOU, to contribute for free to Google Maps.
Please don't.
It is 100% #proprietary, Google has full control over the data you added and people can only access Google Maps over proprietary channels where Google dictates the rules. This gives them too much power.

Contribute to #OpenStreetMap instead, it's a project by the community, for the community.

I am looking into setting my own home email server, matrix server, and mastodon server. I want them to each connect to LDAP so that I can create one user and it work on all three. The email server needs to have a webmail function.
Any advice on the best linux email servers or other general advice would be appreciated.
My ultimate goal is to build a proof of concept system that I can demo to the leaders in my church in order to convince them to offer these services to their members.

I haven't watched it yet. I have been pureposefully watching Trump on the debate nights, specifically to help his ratings and not help Fox's. I will probably watch at least the highlights sometime this week.
Good to hear that Ramaswamy did well.

@realcaseyrollins
Ah. Yeah, the problem is that if you support Trump (which I do), you have to accept that he really screwed up on covid (which I admit). Not willing to admit that Trump screwed up, she instead has to make it look like everyone did the same thing.

I don't know who that is or how strict her parents actually were. I am also not a parent myself, so I don't have any actual experience to draw from. That said, I have known many parents with varying levels of strictness. As in all things, you can go too far, but in general strictness, especially at a young age, tends to actually provide for better adjusted kids.

There are classic movies that I have and have not seen, that I would rather watch in theaters than most of the new movies today.

I don't know about lineageOS, but the comes with out of the box, supports and and it has a 3.5 mm jack.

@wandy_dev
For my web apps, I have liked the installed gnome-web. While the installed gnome-web crashes a lot, that doesn't seem to happen with the web apps.
I have one web app that requires firefox or chrome. For that one, I installed Brave.

@deedend @devrtz @purism I encourage everyone to try PureOS on the Librem 5 to judge daily usability of the Librem 5 and if it's "the time yet".

One shouldn't draw that conclusion by looking at other devices (running other distros).

A single missing one line line patch or broken driver can considerably mess up daily usability.

@agx @deedend @devrtz @purism
I have been daily driving mine since February of this year. Before that, I daily drove the PPP for a year and before that I daily drove the PP for a year.
The was a major step up in quality and usability from day one. I loved my pinephones, but I don't think that I could go back to them.

My biggest disappointment with the 11 is no hardware kill switches. I was looking at the 11, but now I think I will wait for the 16.

@purism @kop316
They have been! Apparenly, there was an issue with our docking station causing it to not charge. Once we figured that out, we stopped usimg the docking station.

@kyle
Because of the post, I have decided that I need to learned how to darn.
Mostly, so that I can point to my work and say Josh darned it.

@kop316 @purism
I was having this discussion with a friend at work this morning.
She has a librem 14 that I convinced her to buy last year.
I have my librem 5.
We both agree that Purism support (and support from the open source community) is fantastic. I have never purchased an item with better support.
(Though, to be fair, I have also never needed as much support as we had to have with her 14.)

So my spouses iPhone has stopped receiving calls, and is seems that when she calls folks, it goes straight to voicemail. So naturally, I joined Apple's community Matrix channel and their devs helped to fix the problem.

No wait sorry, that's what I do with @purism when my #librem5 has issues (which for the record, it makes and receives calls/SMS/MMS just fine).

What will likely happen is a perfectly good phone goes in the trash because of some software bug.

It boggles my mind how the left side of the political aisle wants more government control, and greatly trusts the state, while the right wants the government to take a more hands-off approach in comparison, yet the right wingers are considered to be more fascist than left wingers.

Fascism requires three things: authoritarianism, trust in the state, and private sector cooperation in authoritarian measures. It's easier to find people who believe in all three on the left than on the right.

Our recent article about the Librem 5 noted that its new $999 price tag after a $300 price cut is still... a lot. But it looks like there is a slightly cheaper option: Purism is selling refurbished models of the Linux phone for $799. shop.puri.sm/shop/librem-5-ref #Librem5 #Purism #LinuxSmartphones #mobileLinux
