Yes, but all that means is that you can't use the librem social app with a gab account. You can still follow and be followed by gab accounts. Librem hasn't blocked them from federating, they just haven't gone to the trouble of fixing their app so that it works with somebody else.

@alexa
I think that their bad reputation comes from them not banning people just for posting things that they disagree with. Which is one of the things that I love about them.
As for the timelines, they were my introduction to the fediverse, so it isn't something that I have missed. I like their explanation that they don't force things on you that you don't opt into seeing.

@alexa
Also, librem.one
Their policy is don't post anything illegal and don't harass others. They also federated with gab.

@mariel

This is why I left Gab.

"Freedom of speech" does not require me to listen.

People can rave about Jews all they want, and I can block them for raving about Jews.

That's not taking away their freedom of speech. It's sparing me from listening to incurable pathology.

NYT Fake News. 60 years ago, the nytimes predicted an ice-free Arctic and ships sailing over the North Pole, within a generation. 50 years ago, they predicted an ice-free Arctic by 1989. It is now July, and there are no ships traversing the Arctic

@Lilbroomstick @yang
We have been hearing this for years. But unemployment has been at record lows for most of President Trump's tenure. Even if you believe it will happen eventually (I don't), now is certainly not the time that it is needed.

@x
Oh, I misunderstood. I don't have a gab account and don't really feel like creating one simply for the purpose of testing, so I will have to take your word for it. It does seem to go against librem's stated philosophy to block someone like that though.
@kyle @todd

@x
This is not true. I am on librem social and I can search for and find gab users without issues.

@gmcgath
Even if he isn't a true journalist, how does that excuse the violence?

Kayaks are loaded in the truck.
Lunch is packed.
River is up.
And I get to spend the day floating the river with a beautiful girl.

@yang
Happy Independence day to you too.
While you are celebrating and imagining how great it will be when you implement your new burdensome taxes, do is a favor and think back to December 16, 1773 and what are the things that caused the population to want to declare their Independence from an authoritarian burdensome government.

@yang
FD means saving capitalist societies from themselves.

This is the biggest problem with Democrats. They believe that they are wiser than the population as a whole and that the people need government to save them from themselves. This is one of the reasons that socialist/communist states tend towards authoritarianism. The only way to "protect" people from themselves is to control them.

@yang
Value added tax and UBI are NOT socialist.

I agree with you that VAT is not socialist. Many conservatives have proposed VAT's to replace income tax. Unfortunately, you are not trying to replace a tax, you are adding yet another burdensome tax on people.
UBI is the epitome of socialism or more specifically communism. You are taking money from the population and redistributing it. Exactly what is your definition of socialism if UBI does not fit?

@yang
I'm not looking to abolish the free market

There are 250 million adults in the United States. Your plan is to steal (tax) $250 billion dollars a month from the free market (that's $2,500,000,000,000 a year), redistribute the stolen money across the population.
Prices on everything would skyrocket out of control. Just look at what government backed student loans did to college tuition. You would destroy the free market.
