The new non-free-firmware section of the bookworm archive is opt-in. Do not forget to include it when updating your source lists if you wish to opt into binary firmware for your device. #ReleasingDebianBookworm.

@thelinuxcast I view many aspects of on a spectrum and I'm glad that /#Meta is acknowledging the success and potential of . I would hope this would also entail them providing resources to improve and expand it in a way that benefits the broader community. If anyone wants to boycott their instance, they fortunately have a simple way to block it that is already baked in.

@thelinuxcast I probably would on occasion, but the federated timeline is disabled on my instance.

@mntmn What is the chassis depth? I'm curious if it'll fit inside a 450mm enclosure.

The USPTO has issued proposed rules that will make it harder for everyone in open source to challenge bad patents. Let them know you want a fair and open system for all, where anyone can seek a review of an invalid patent.

Some interesting research from my alma mater: you can somewhat reliably transmit covert voice-band frequencies toward popular home assistant devices that are near passband cutoff freqs.

:openstreetmap: I just installed StreetComplete and I’ve already made more than 150 contributions to map my neighborhood!

It’s such a good example of an open-source and well-designed mobile app that makes it easy for everyone to contribute to the digital commons.

@nixCraft I don't have a favorite language for my projects because the implementation depends on the requirements and not vice versa.

KiCad 7.0.5 has been released! Big thank you to all of the folks who helped get this one out the door.

@snazzyq It's interesting how the appearance keeps changing to make them look more daunting/capable/rugged, yet they have embedded bumpers within the front fascia in such a way that a small collision would cost $1000-2000 to fix.

@bnys Leave some MNT goodies for the rest of us 😉

YMMV, but I've always had unlimited data tethering by using ( is my current carrier, if that matters). I'm supposed to have a 5GB monthly tethering cap, but the Google Fi app reports 0B at the start of every day and does not ever appear restricted even if I exceed 5GB in one day.

Things to always carry with you:

- a sawblade
- a towel

@dos I'm curious how many GPS satellites were within line-of-sight of your phone when you were testing this. I haven't worked with GNSS in a while, so I can't recall how WAAS stations are accounted for within GPS sensor data in Linux. I ought to reach out to some old colleagues for a refresher on how we handled it in our applications.

Also, FWIW: As a user, it would be beneficial to select between local/online/fallback GNSS data modes.

@LineageOS Is there currently any traction with OEMs adopting as the default image within their product lines? If not, what are the biggest hurdles?

@mntmn @olimex Seeing product integrations from two of my favorite open hardware companies makes me very happy 😁

stmp1 SOM appeared! this open hardware module by @olimex shall serve as the BMC for Rack Reform. we'll test that with the official devkit first.

MNT RCM4 hopefully done, ordering samples now! this adapter lets you use CM4-style modules as processors in the MNT Reform laptop. my current favorite is the BPi CM4 with Amlogic A311D.
