People like to sh*t on Microsoft, but I don't see other big tech companies treating #a11y seriously, not just software, but actually designing and marking adaptive equipment and Accessories for disabled people.

3 people at Xbox and Microsoft came to my house in the UK from Seattle, to give me a XAC (xbox adaptive controller) prototype to help test it.

@brandont This is when a tag-based filesystem comes in handy. I personally have content like this stored in Nextcloud and tag them with all the aspects you mentioned.

@deweyritten That's a great idea! I had to spread the food out last time after a few of them started being territorial, but I should fill a couple water bowls for them to share. It's the least I could do. 😊

@deweyritten Same here! I've been throwing handfuls of puppy chow to them, as I read it's one of their favorite foods. Sometimes they gobble it up immediately, and other times they store it in their beaks to take back to their nests. It's sweet to sometimes see their silent acknowledgement before they fly off.

Personally I really think not adding this feature because of cyberbullying doesn't make much sense considering abusers can easily work around this problem by taking a screenshot to quote post. Worse part is, with the screenshot method, the target would have no idea you were talking shit behind their backs.

Also, they're taking away a useful feature because some bad apples could abuse it.

Honestly to me this is a moderation issue, not a technical one. Mastodon remains the only microblogging platform without this basic feature.

@zbecker @nixCraft Ok, but I'm talking about vim/emacs/nano here. Vim has never been installed by default for any embedded system I've worked on professionally.

@nixCraft I often use because it's installed on many more systems by default and I may not have the privilege/network to install software on the system.

@sunarch @brandont Oh, definitely! All my snippets are useful nuggets of info - like personal StackOverflow tutorials/scripts/cheat-sheets. I only wish GitLab would allow tagging since I might search the wrong thing, like "virsh" instead of "qemu-img" and I dislike lengthy titles.

If you use LastPass this is extremely important news. Attackers have access to all your website URLs and encrypted passwords.

This was effectively their only job and they failed.

This feels somewhat inevitable given how big a prize the LastPass vault is but scary to see happen.

Oh hell yeah. @mozilla is launching a Mastodon instance in early 2023! I’m very excited for this. Mozilla is really good at what they do. Firefox has over 200M monthly active users, and with any luck they’ll build better support for the fediverse into Firefox itself. @SwiftOnSecurity on a similar note, for people who want to stream on Twitch or wherever and need good cameras: use your old cell phones and the Iriun app. It's better quality than most webcams and way cheaper

A #FediTip I’m just now starting to understand..and it’s so cool! Last week, I created a #PixelFed account (OpenSource Instagram replacement). I can go into any #Mastodon app and follow any Pixelfed account, and see it’s posting activity in my feed!

It works in the reverse as well. I can follow any Masto account on Pixelfed. It’s like being able to follow Facebook, Instagram and Twitter favorites all in one place. Sweet!
