Chrome OS and Android are based on the Linux kernel. Hence they are Linux operating system.

But at the same time, "we" often do not count them in same family as CentOS, Fedora, RHEL, Debian, Mint, Ubuntu touch, Mobian and so on.

But how come? How do we distinguish between Chrome and Android vs the other; how is the separation defined? Or do you disagree with the starting point?

E-mail question: As I understand, big picture:
IMAP keeps the e-mails on the server (and depending on how I access, can also be a copy on my machine).
POP moves the e-mail from the server to the storage on the local machine (or wherever I have the storage).
Local folders are e-mails stored locally. So my question, when I move (eg copy and delete) an e-mail from IMAP to a local folder, is that more or less like POP but only affects emails I want to take away from server? Eg in #Thunderbird

Question to more compentent Linux persons:

Except to get a later release of a software, is there any other reason(s) for (on Linux Mint) to install FlatPak, Snap or AppImage instead of a deb from the repository?

Anyone who has experience of Volla mobile phone with Volla OS and/or Ubuntu touch OS?

I think I recall the crowdfunding, although I did not join. Seems as Ubuntu touch has come far to become a real OS. Nevertheless, both those OS have the same fundamental problem with important apps (like BankID and Swish) that only are available from Apple and Google store, requiring two phones. I got an e-mail from Apple today; Upgrade to macOS Ventura. With a link how to upgrade. And the compatiblity list told me what I knew - my machine is not supported for Ventura. So, does it mean Apple knows my OS but not machine model? Else the mail should have encouraged me to buy a new machine also, not only tell me the great (?) things I will not get. Dessa främmande oidentiferade objekt över den nordamerikanske kontinenten får mig att tänka på objekt i svenska skärgården som upptäcktes titt som tätt och möjligen var främmande ubåtar. Efter den uppenbara identifierade upptäckten av U137.

Helt plötsligt ska visst skärmgloende och skärmpetande människor börja PRATA med varandra! Nu ser jag fram emot att det blir tillåtet att prata med vilt främmande medresenärer i tunnelbanan också.

I have started to use #DisplayCAL to calibrate my monitor. It seems to be very competent, far more compentent than I am on the calibration topic. But I think manage to use it. I use it with my Spyder 5 colorimeter. I have noticed a few issues which I think are related to that I have installed DisplayCAL in form of a #FlatPak on #Linux, a container method to install software, it should need some more openings (sw permissions) than default.
