Happy Trans* Day of Visibility!

Trans people are mappers, and hackers, and cartographers, and have always been a part of the OpenStreetMap community.

The OpenStreetMap project is creating a freely licenced map of the world, based on how things actually are, based on how they act, and appear, not based on what some government says. OSM is trans positive.

Before folks start railing on open source - let’s not forget there are plenty of examples of undocumented backdoors in proprietary commercial products too, the Boeing 737 Max 9 for example

For those of you curious this is what the #pinephonepro camera looks like with my autofocus #libcamera and that new driver. This was late at night with only my room light on so it is still pretty noisy but it looks decent enough.

upstreaming imx258 driver work continues! Its my first attempt at upstreaming anything to the #linux kernel and even submitting patches via a mail list so its been a learning experience for me and a rough one at that but soon the #pinephonepro will be able to use a mainline camera driver and get something useful out of it and will greatly improve #libcamera support since even downstream was missing lots for it.

I am ecstatic to announce that I'm starting work with MNT Research in #Berlin! I just got confirmation that my visa was approved and can start work April 1st (not a joke)! Thanks to @mntmn, @theawesomerandomness, @holo_memory, @plom and the whole community for giving me this incredible opportunity, I couldn't be more excited!

Nothing really substantial, but two of my new repositories are GPL now and I like it as my new default instead of MIT.

I laughed at FOSS before, but somehow, OSS not being enough for companies anymore pushes me towards OSS also not being enough for me.

While they migrate away to source-available proprietary software, I feel like I want to achieve the exact opposite with my work - to ensure that it helps to build the commons.

First known symbolic gesture observed in birds; scientists recorded the Japanese tit using repetitive wing movements to signal "after you" to others.

Do you have an old #PinePhone lying in the cupboard?

Dev versions of #ModemManager now support #GPS without a SIM card. Consumers of the MM API need some changes for this, so I submitted pull requests to #Geoclue (gitlab.freedesktop.org/geoclue), gnss-share (gitlab.com/postmarketOS/gnss-s), and my own simple #GNSS app Satellite (codeberg.org/tpikonen/satellit) (all 3 in different languages).

Soon it will be possible to use SIMless mobile phones for things like navigation and fitness tracking.

alright it took the better part of my weekend but I finally back-ported Mastodon to iOS 4

At 2:33 am today I fixed the last bug in EGL transparency for X11 code. This means #Firefox and #GTK will be able to use it and stop calling GLX to figure out transparent visuals.
More than 4 years after the first attempt was made.
Approx. 1 year after we (Erico, @rmader , and I) started digging into it. Good night!

@linmob maybe also shrinking the white spaces that are unused so more useful text is displayed

@linmob works pretty well! the tab width may need oi be halved for mobile phones in portrait mode

While we try to find a suitable place for the clock in phosh's top bar when notches are present (since 0.29.0) we didn't take rounded corners into account as most of the time the left and right padding would be enough.

With more devices like the and daisy showing up as being used with we need to care about that too:

Trump has less than a week to arrange a $454 million bond. There are 331.9 million US citizens. If each American spends only $1.37, then we can all buy a cheap chocolate bar to enjoy while we watch the State of New York seize Trump's properties.
