@Gargron targeted email blocking can be just as bad as targeted IP blocking it should not be assumed that every disposable email = spam, or every user connecting from an IP that spams also uses the connection to spam. I think having the ability to create fake accounts should be part of fediverse freedom. Performing some content checking to determine if it is a bot and limiting rate of spam postings on the content side might be an alternative.

Happy I ❤️ Free Software Day everyone! Thank you to all the #FreeSoftware contributors out there who support #softwarefreedom ❤️❤️❤️ #ilovefs

Don't let this day pass without saying thank you! sharepic.fsfe.org/#ilovefs

After being sent this abomination of a link (the actual link is 34 character, the tracking IDs total 486 characters), I got the idea that not only could Chatty strip out the tracking IDs from a URL from display, but it would could also auto remove them when you send a message: gitlab.gnome.org/World/Chatty/

Because friends don't let friends send tracking IDs.

Starship 28 is sitting outside of the high bay this morning. This will be the next Starship to launch.

In addition to the new handbook, GNOME also has a shiny new release schedule page:

UI freeze in 10 days... 😬

There is a missing feature or something not implemented my matrix servers as an option as far as i can tell. You can currently follow someone, but there is no way to reduce the frequency of posts to show from that follow. Missing options:
1. show one post a day
2. show three posts a day
3. show 10 posts a day
4. show all

This is a problem also in other apps including RSS feeds, freetube, etc

Limit feed frequency of users you follow. Even Instagram or Facebook doesnt have that.

Many of the ills of today’s internet have a single thing in common: they are built on a system of corporate surveillance. This Data Privacy & Protection Day, we're calling for a ban on the targeting of ads based on our online behavior. eff.org/deeplinks/2022/03/ban-

@agx played around with the small homebar in postmarket OS with a Librem , i think the finger detection area at the bottom for long press may need to be expanded or made with more margin, i found it hard to popup the keyboard as it required too precise of touch input, this either results in keyboard not unfolding, or when using with firefox activating menues whhen used with firefox bottom menue functionality

@thelinuxEXP @tlenewspodcast I have had this exact newbee experience with wine, proton, and trying 4 different launchers with very different outcomes and performance for Rebel Galaxy Outlaw, took me about 2 weeks and now runs stable with RADV, Vulkan, Steam Proton Experimental but FPS seem to be less than Heroic using Wine

@kramo this should improve mobile use quite a but and one thumb operation

@alpinelinux why is it so hard to enable Zram in Alpine Linux, specifically zram that is persistent across reboots?

it's kind of funny how frustrated and annoyed apple's announcement reads in regards to the changes they have to implement to comply with EU DMA, like > This change is a result of the DMA’s requirements, and means that EU users will be confronted with a list of default browsers before they have the opportunity to understand the options available to them. The screen also interrupts EU users’ experience the first time they open Safari intending to navigate to a webpage.

@gnomeapps one of my favorite apps tranferring log files between my arm64 mobile phone and amd64 desktop intel computer, it is flawless (one improvement could be to make Accept optional, or remove it if devices use same bluetooth, wireless network)

"Parents Rights" is a dog-whistle for abuse.

The US is the *only* country in the world which is not party to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

There was a proposal by Russia a few years ago to include so-called "Parental Rights" in the convention, and it was widely rejected as it inherently is at odds with the idea of the rights of a child to be heard, respected, protected, a right to their own name and identity.

In the US, rejection of the convention is specifically because of conservative Republicans who believe that children should not have rights, and that only the authority of parents is what matters.

I've been on the #internet before becoming an adult.

I'm not sure what adults occupied themselves with before internet. (As an internet-free kid, doing things I was not allowed to do was good.)

Maybe not being able to escape into the 'net is how people could focus on great pursuits.

I bet in the future historians will split time into "before internet" and "after internet" eras.
