@apps i have been using it for a while and wish it synced caldav :-/
@kop316 ah ok let me go through your list and see if i can find the corresponding packages
@kop316 btw the version i use does not save the password even when manually modifying the config file (password for the voicebox)
@kop316 Preliminary CMake check failed. Aborting.
Run-time dependency mm-glib found: NO (tried pkgconfig and cmake)
meson.build:50:0: ERROR: Dependency "mm-glib" not found, tried pkgconfig and cmake
@kop316 tried but it does not compile on pureos 10
2. why is debian OS and terminal commands case sensitive (sometimes for example when launching flatpak apps), thats terrible again from the user perspective.
3. passwords and keychain management in ubuntu / ubuntu touch and debian / gnome is fickl, sometimes wifi or vpn passwords are not saved or opened during system launch, resulting in popups that incorrectly ask for already saved passwords, reboot agaim resolves these issues
4. Often times when things dont work in ubuntu like thunderbolt device tree management or general hardware driver support in debian and associated connections, or updates not one but TWO restarts , more often than not, are required and magically resolve issues,
5. linux is supposed to be fast on old devices but sometimes its slow, ubunutu launching firefox takes 2minutes crying on my macbook pro 2011.
@pop_os_official this is amazing and a very much underappreciated attack vector issue. BTW while you created time servers, is there a distributed way this could be done by using existing matrix servers and their encryption protocol, then you wouldnt have to maintain servers and distributed time serving would reduce the possibility of server attack on your end.
As a non programmer back seat bencher here are things i dont like about linux:
1. for all the community builds there are too many distributions, and ways to do packaging that are incompatible between desktop environments, results in duplication of work and user friction- we need linux standards that match standards for kernel development in user space.
@purism please adapt to mobile phone factor 8)!
@chrichri question for the user name change say it was user A now it is user B, can you describe which fields you needed to change and why maybe just one example in passwd? I mean did you have to change the "purism" to "B" everywhere that user showed up or just add your new user in addition to purism in case changing the user would cause network issues etc.
@haeckerfelix amazing!
GNOME goes mobile! Work is currently underway to make GNOME Shell run on phones. More details on this, and many more news can be found in the current issue of #ThisWeekInGNOME!
#46 Going Mobile
https://thisweek.gnome.org/posts/2022/06/twig-46/
@gnome instructions lack in case you want to use a mobile matrix client <https://element.io/get-started#linux-details>
@linmob any reasons it actually scales properly in app caroussel but not on the full app screen
@purism also any possibility to scrap the development alltogether and just integrate a USB attached camera in the next phone?
