The Paradox of Tolerance disappears if you look at tolerance, not as a moral standard, but as a social contract.
If someone does not abide by the contract, then they are not covered by it.
In other words: The intolerant are not following the rules of the social contract of mutual tolerance.
Since they have broken the terms of the contract, they are no longer covered by the contract, and their intolerance should NOT be tolerated.
@sabogato
I already feel like "call our toll free number for mental health support" is too impersonal to be helpful (to me). Auto-generated patronizing bullshit sounds even less helpful.

Have you recently been dx or become a self aware #ActuallyAutistic human? Do you want to connect with fellow #AutisticAdults that are coming to learn more about their autistic selves? Come join my discussion & affirmation circle next Tuesday!
I'm still learning how to #Fediverse, so maybe this will help another. The screenshot shows the #Fedilab client, and the public timelines that I have added, from 3 other instances.
@mattblaze "you too could buy your way out of trouble" seems to be the cornerstone. You must believe you're a billionaire in potential. That is faith
@adam
Email's signal to noise ratio is absolute garbage. At least, it is for me.
@seldo
And I've heard that when Nazis captured Americans, they would make this same argument to the POWs. Basically, "why are you fighting us, we're the same".
“It's just a little thing
Buried in the other things
Burning away, from inside
Would you stay with me tonight?
And there's a quiet dream
I'm not supposed to think
Eating away at my mind
Could you be with me tonight?”

Nice cymbals!

This is why the GKC canonization discussion bothers me.
There are much better Catholic role models, like a litany of Black nuns, for starters.
AFAICT, GKC is beloved by some Catholics for being sharp with words. I don't see the virtue in that.
🤷
"US law enforcement killed at least 1,176 people in 2022, making it the deadliest year on record for police violence since experts first started tracking the killings, a new data analysis reveals.
Police across the country killed an average of more than three people a day, or nearly 100 people every month last year according to Mapping Police Violence."

“You didn't kill him?”
“In my heart, I did.”
Oof. That exchange in #HacksawRidge hits close to home.
As does the (accurate) depiction of the #PTSD (#CPTSD) that often haunts those of us who experienced ongoing domestic violence as children.
Happy Jan 6th! Remember, 1st coup always fails!🙂
Hitler. Saddam. Castro. All the big names took at least 2 shots, regardless of political philosophy!
And in the USA the rules of civility discourse meant that after Jan 6th, Biden had more to say to Black folk than he did to the far-right politicians that supported it.🤡 He made a big show of saying that he would fire any member of his admin that was "rude" to a member of the far-right.
He asked us to move on. Our answer was no.
It's still no.
@GeePawHill
As in, it still counts as a Laboratory, even if both research buildings are the same building. Don't have to wait for super computer.
@GeePawHill
With the new Laboratory room, you can pop a second research station next to the portal, bookend with doors, and voila, 25% faster research (lit workspace+ laboratory).
OK let’s talk about That Op-ed. The one that insisted not only that privacy is dangerous, but that not affirmatively building surveillance into communication tools is a radical ideological position.
Dunking on the op-ed’s arguments is easy. They’re SHALLOW. And dunk many have, often with the gentleness of a professor grading a draft essay from a student they didn’t want to completely discourage. I’ll direct you to the great threads from others...
