@dko hmm, yes, I think there may be one or two examples in history where societies have changed as a result of the use of other channels, not the channels considered proper by those in power.

@karlemilnikka they are not yet recommending to wipe the systems clean and start over with a GNU/Linux or other operating system? 😉

I'm very thankful to #Microsoft and #Crowdstrike for this timely demonstration to make it clear, that the budget cuts to the #NGI by the @EUCommission endanger Europe's #digitalsovereignty

@pthane @praest76 @Walrus I expect the problem with smugness to be most concentrated among Linux users. After all, Apple users have little reason to be smug since they are owned just as much as Windows users, it's just that they are owned by Apple instead of Microsoft. There is no significant difference between them.

About the thing:

"the company is “deeply sorry for impact that we’ve caused to customers”"
[...]
"Kurtz said there had been a “negative interaction” between the update and Microsoft’s operating system"
[...]

theguardian.com/business/live/

I wonder if it might turn out to be possible to come up with some joke where someone explains they are “deeply sorry" for the "negative interaction between ________ and ________".

Millions of linux users around the world had their productivity crippled by #cloudstrike as they all rushed to read the news, post hot takes & dad jokes to their Mastodon feed.

@vmiklos Great, thanks a lot. For other surveillance suffering people, you can find the video on our (not yet officially open) #peertube in the mirrored channel: friprogramvarusyndikatet.tv/c/

@karlemilnikka this points to the platform being in the last stage of enshittification 🙂

I feel the same. Same thing also with the word "content". If I write something, like an article or whatever, I did not "produce" anything, and certainly not "content". Even this little mastodon comment here, silly as it may be, is not "content". It's something I've written where I (a human!) expressed some thoughts.

@dln tack för bra tips!

> more code is written in the world than should be

Yes, in terms of the amount of code, this is true.

But what is needed, I think, is not to reduce the effort that goes into writing code, but rather to shift the focus from adding new things to improving and simplifying existing things. We need simplicity. We should focus our efforts on making things simpler (and thereby better) instead of adding complexity.

@MoeBritannica more and more icons, eating their way further and further to the right. When they reach all the way to the right edge of the screen, you're dead.
