@neil thanks!
Oh, this is bad.
"if it is shown that that person was in possession of a key to any protected information at any time before the time of the giving of the section 49 notice, that person shall be taken for the purposes of those proceedings to have continued to be in possession of that key at all subsequent times"
Prison up to 5 years if you forgot the passphrase at any time, unless you can prove that you did forget it. Guilty unless you somehow prove your own forgetfulness?
@Dragon my guess is that it has to do with how laptops are made from components, I think they pick a base laptop design which is the same as many other laptop brands are using (which in this case included a DC barrel jack) and then they add some other components like USB ports and things, that may or may not have charging capability. It's not like they design the laptop from scratch, it's more like they pick from a somewhat limited set of components.
@Dragon yes, both cases are interesting I think: the case where I claim that I have forgotten the passphrase, and the case where I clearly still know it (perhaps they have cloned the encrypted data and they can see that I am still able to decrypt my own copy of it, or something like that) but I refuse to give them the passphrase. @neil
@neil if I have a USB stick with some encrypted data on it and the police raid my house and take it as part of some investigation they are doing, does the police then have means to force me to tell them the encryption passphrase? If so, what punishment would they threaten me with if I refuse?

I have published the snippet of code that implements a GPU-based ISP with bunch of corrections and encodes video in real time on the Librem 5. Feel free to take parts of it and use in your apps and frameworks... or record your cats 😼

@robin cities are real, they exist in the real world. Countries are fake. Ask any anarchist, they will confirm this is true. 😉
@bagder each time I see one of those posts I feel a hard-to-explain urge to become one of those commiters. It's like you're casting a spell on me 😆 🪄
@tend2wobble this is certainly a big thing happening in the world right now: the US dollar is about to lose its position as "the world's reserve currency". It was already unsustainable (the US printing ridiculous amounts of money while the rest of the world pretends the currency still retains its value) but Trump's craziness can probably make the inevitable happen more quickly.
I have installed ubuntu server on my home server and libvirt/virsh. But what should I use to create a vm in the best way from the command line?
Ubuntu suggests multipass, uvtool or virt-install.
Any suggestions on best practice?
@samuel on DFRI machines we mostly use virt-install. You can either (easiest to start with) make it start a debian installer that you manually go through, or (better) do something more automated by first running virt-builder and virt-sysprep and then supplying the resulting file as input to virt-install so that you donät need to manually go through the debian installer. It's really good if you can make it all automated, have a VM creation script that you can run without anything interactive.
