@hehemrin one way to handle all this is to have two phones, one with a free OS which you strive to use for everything you can and use more and more, and another one that is only for the few things that you think only work for Apple/Google. Turn that off most of the time and only pick it out when you really have to, and strive to use it as seldom as possible. Always ask for ways to use your free phone instead, so that you contribute to the growth and demand for free alternatives.

Apple has power to do whatever they want. They did that to users in China, they can do bad things to you as well.

If the apps you mention are truly mandatory, then there is no good option for you.

The whole situation we have is bad, if you want more freedom you will have to sacrifice some convenience.

Väljarna kanske är lata, de kanske är lättlurade, men de kan bättre än de visat på sistone, de kommer att vakna och skärpa till sig och de allra flesta vill faktiskt inte alls samma sak som Mattias Karlsson.

@hehemrin I think the requirement of privacy is incompatible with iOS. Apple will track you anyway.

Also, FOSS becomes less meaningful because with iOS you cannot really know what you install, you cannot build and install from source and you cannot know if Apple have modified the app you install. The program you actually install may not correspond to the public source code, you will never know.

You need to move from iOS to a free (as in freedom) operating system! Then install a FOSS pod app 🙂

@neil In my opinion, what we need is not to regulate what Facebook&co are allowed to do, but rather to educate people so that they understand why Facebook is bad for them. Then people will leave Facebook.

How I came to that, was from your statement that "federation is not a good moderation tool". Because how moderation happens is very important, my thinking was that you preferred systems where moderation worked differently.

Anyway, I see now that it was a misunderstanding.

Regarding letting technology work as intended, I think many folks would see one instance blocking another instance as a feature they want the tech to allow.

@kjellbastian Jag gissar att svaret från SD blir att de kräver att Pehrson ber om ursäkt. Följt av att han ber om ursäkt, eftersom regeringssamarbetet är viktigare för honom än några principer.

Bra i alla fall att det händer något kring det, det är ju helt sjukt med "liberaler" och SD i samma "lag".

Hoppas på nyval, men i praktiken blir det nog bara en massa ursäkter från Pehrson, han kommer tvingas lova att han inte ska säga såna där saker längre. Disciplin i det blåbruna laget.
