@mntmn Yes! Knowing what the world looks like today, with nearly everyone locked up in the Google/Apple duopoly and many of them don't even seem to understand the problem with that. Given that I do understand the problem, I see that the world needs change, we need to take control of our technology instead of being enslaved by it. And I can afford to but a Librem 5 and a MNT Reform, how could I not do it? Of course I will do it.

Starting a phone call from the terminal on a #librem5 Birch. This call is to the good old "Fröken ur" speaking-clock service telling us the current time in Swedish. @johnfocker @purism I think you can't really compare to Pine64. Purism creates and improves free software. Pine64 just makes hardware. Many people seem to be running Phosh (by Purism) on their Pinephones. Nothing wrong with that of course, but it's not like things would be fine if nobody was working on the software. Working on software costs money. I appreciate that Purism is doing that work, and I'm pretty sure that Pine64 appreciates it as well, they do benefit from it. We all benefit.

@sir As people we can be expected to do the right thing, but we cannot expect companies to do the right thing, they will just do whatever makes money. Like he says in the end, we need to create laws to form a better society, companies will not do it no matter how much we shout at them, because their purpose is to make money. (except maybe those strange social purpose companies like @purism)

@sir That's very interesting, but when he says things like "You've got a responsibility to society", when he says that to a company like Facebook, I think that's a mistake. A company has a responsibility to its owners/shareholders. The company does not actually have a responsibility to society. You can say things like that to a person, but I'm not sure it's meaningful to say it to a company.

@geary @gnome @purism Just got the #Geary email client running on a #librem5 Birch. This is a Geary version built from Purism's git repo https://source.puri.sm/Librem5/geary (I tried the upstream version also but got into trouble with the initial account setup dialog that did not fit the screen). @agx @purism aha, ok, now I tried putting amber-phone-staging in my /etc/apt/sources.list file, and it works, now apt gives me phosh 0.5.1. Excellent. Thank you!

@agx @purism Great! To try it, is it possible to install it using apt? Looks like I get phosh version 0.4.4 in both byzantium and amber-phone -- is there a way to get the new phosh 0.5.1? Or is building from source from the git repo the only way?

@redstarfish to make MS-DOS users feel at home in GNU/Linux? 🙂 I remember at some point in the 90s at a university where some Unix (Solaris) system was used, then there was no "dir" command and a friend of mine added it as an alias for his user because he was so used to MS-DOS.

@arran I'd like some good games for kids, fun games where they at the same time learn things, like math, building things, solving puzzles, things like that. Not sure if that exists already, if so I don't know about it.

@js everyone needs to finally let go of IPv4. I get that people see some problems with IPv6 but staying with IPv4 forever is *not* a better option!
