😵 🤯 Last year a #Meta Lobbyist became a new head of the #Irish Data Protection Commission (DPC). Today, the former head of the DPC announced that she is now working for MHC - the Irish law firm for Meta that was previously defending Meta before the #DPC in #GPDR cases - basically a 360° seat swap between the Irish regulator and Meta.
This is not just extreme #CorporateCapture of a regulator and makes #Ireland a laughing stock within the EU, but moves like this also undermine any public...

A concrete example of how #AI saves #money for #PayPal: I have an old account with 150€. I want to get the money out but its locked. AI says I need to do more verification to prove I'm me. There are five pieces of info I had to provide. After months, four were marked verified. The fifth fails every time I try. Only #ChatBot support is available, which just points to me to docs. So they'll just keep my money knowing I won't sue over so little money. AI makes locking accounts like mine cheap.

Remarkable initiative by @wavesblog and Isa Stasi to give technologists a channel to talk about #DMA!
Pressing issues related to app stores in environments dominated by #Apple and #Google were discussed in details by @eighthave and @marcprux.
Take some minutes to hear it, it's worthy.
@jdelacueva @EUCommission @marcel_kolaja had managed to get a EU Pilot Project funded to have these apps distributed outside of Google and Apple. I don't understand this process, so I don't know what this means, but apparently the EC declined to move forward with it. At this point, I can provide the technical tools and even the hosting for such a thing. I'd just need an organization to be the legal home. I can't handle legal liability of reviewing and redistributing apps without FOSS licenses

I am unable to install EU Login app in my phone because I use LineageOS and not the Google Spy Android. Thus, I cannot use the double factor authentication, mandatory from the 25-02-2026 on unless I tell Google.
