something old, something new, something perfect

(with not so perfect quality, lots of space for improvements there 😂)

i want people to love their computer.

not computers, not software, not software-as-a-service, not technology in general, but a machine that carries their own personal will, the will of the wielder, in to the vastness of the ‘net

the fact that duckduckgo has an AI thing at the top of the search results which DOESN’T answer in character as a duck, or even quack several times between each sentence, is, i think, a shocking betrayal and a demonstration of utmost cowardice

Librem 5 protip: listening to music on a cheap pair of tiny in-ear headphones in a noisy environment? Enable HD Bass to wake the bass guitarist up:

amixer -D hw:L5 sset 'HD Bass' on

I've been learning how to properly format a movie script and what to include in a pitch deck. Soon it'll be done and ready to send out to the world to seek funding.

I heard noone wants to sponsor non-commercial movies. True?

But I've got a secret incentive in mind 🔥 🦉 😎

#shortfilm

So yesterday I saw a @postmarketOS toot about their web flasher for Android devices, and I thought - how hard would it be to make one for L5? Turns out - not hard at all. Here it is booting Jumpdrive.

Some caveats:
- requires permission setting on Linux 😔 I may work out-of-box on other platforms though
- it's sloooow, but there's hope: github.com/WebAssembly/design/
- asks 5 times to allow access to the device. Could go down to 3, but no less than that.

@agx @praveen @josch Thanks! There are some more GLES3 related MRs that should land soon.

@austriancoder @praveen @josch

In case that helps:

I can confirm mesa as of c844409b895d9fe033bbe6e834096bac91941442

is able to use GTK4's GL renderer with:

MESA_GLES_VERSION_OVERRIDE=3.0 gtk4-demo

on the #Librem5 and

MESA_GLES_VERSION_OVERRIDE=3.0 livi ~/Big_Buck_Bunny_360_10s_5MB.mp4

is also able to play videos (which wouldn't work with the cairo renderer either).
