WebKitGTK 2.54 has been finally released, and with it (among lots of other great things!) my patches adding support for fractional TouchPoint coordinates, PointerEvent capture/release through the DOM API, and fixing pinch-to-zoom handling and V4L2 video acceleration. Both Librem 5 and Steam Deck aren't the cheapest pieces of hardware around, for some good reasons. However, did you know that you can easily get your return on investment by harvesting free power? It's easy, just connect them to each other and both devices will be charging at once. Better late than never: PureOS 11 (crimson) is finally out, catching up with Debian 12 (bookworm) just in time for when bullseye/byzantium lose their extended security support next month. If you're still on byzantium, update ASAP! It's a solid improvement over both byzantium and plain bookworm. 🧵

The new version of Millipixels, now in crimson-updates-proposed, significantly improves the way photos are developed by default. No need to develop the RAWs on your own to get rid of that greenish retro look anymore. Time to update and show off your cats on the fedi 😺

Also, it looks like NXP has picked up their Cadence HDMI/DP bridge/PHY driver upstreaming effort again, which is a great news as it's one of the biggest things we carry in the downstream tree!

Linux 7.0 has now been tagged, coming with 19 commits upstreamed from the Librem 5 tree - two by NXP and the rest by yours truly on behalf of @purism. Three more are already queued for 7.1.

While the mainline kernel still can't drive the display without extra patches, it's very close now 👀

Protip: GTK can do hardware video acceleration using V4L2 on e.g. , but only if you let it.

Adding "--device=all" to overrides lets it be used in apps that don't specify it in their permissions already, such as .

If you happen to maintain a distro that runs on the , then please be aware that all the known issues resulting in the modem dropping out from the USB bus have been resolved *years ago* already. This shouldn't happen even with runtime power management enabled if configured properly.
