Librem 5 (left) vs Canon SX740 HS (right)

Both photos are taken at around 3MP (quarter the resolution L5 actually supports, but for now only from the command line, while I took it using Megapixels). Manually adjusted the raw image from L5 to have similar color balance as Canon's photo.

Today seems like a great day to reshare this video...

The Future of Heat Pumps is Underground (and other places, too!) - Technology Connections: yewtu.be/watch?v=7zrx-b2sLUs (YouTube via Invidious)

You might think it's a weird connection I'm drawing until you watch all the way to the end...

Autofocus support can't get soon enough - turns out that trying to take a focused macro shot with manual focus controlled by typing values into the terminal is kinda cumbersome 😂

...but spring is here, as seen by the camera!

Ok, I won't "educate" people that write "Posh" when talking about "Phosh" anymore. It's now officially hopeless:

Alright, after a bunch of last-minute fixes the GNOME 40 mini-site is finally done. Happy release day everyone 🎉

If flatpaks ask for location service access can now handle that as a agent (which became useful after fixing that for recent kernels using cgroupv2 (gitlab.freedesktop.org/geoclue):

#Plasma Mobile + #KDE Connect on the #PinePhone make for a rather awesome mainline #Linux powered remote control for your also #Linux powered media center. No #Google or #Apple involved here and yet this level of integration is what I hear the proponents of Apple's walled garden approach citing as the benefit.

Of course free software can do it all without locking you in. If that's not the ultimate expression of confidence, the fact that you can walk away anytime, I don't know what is.

What was taken from #FreeSoftware has been returned to it: after denying a refund for a pre-installed Windows, Lenovo had to pay 20.000 Euros to our volunteer and supporter Luca Bonissi.

While it has been fun and educational working inside so many organizations over the past 20 years, today is what I hope is my last day as an employee.

I am now doing OSS work and security/privacy consulting full time.

If you want my eyes on a project, let me know!

There's several reasons I like writing the documentation at adrian.geek.nz/docs !

I like reading over that code to exercise my software freedom to audit the code for malfeatures, though I don't trust myself to recognize vulnerabilities.

I want to make sure I comprehend what I'm reading, writing it down helps.

I like learning from how established projects do things, why computers are the way they are from the silicon on up.

And I think you might benefit from that understanding too!
