15 years ago, EFF's @doctorow told Microsoft:

1. That DRM systems don't work

2. That DRM systems are bad for society

3. That DRM systems are bad for business

4. That DRM systems are bad for artists

5. That DRM is a bad business-move

He was right.

My new social media resolution; whenever I post anything, I'm going to imagine I'm a person that might feel targeted by it, not the person posting it, and think about whether it's written in a way that invites reflection or respectful dialogue. To paraphrase a Taoist sentiment, whatever is sent out, returns a hundred-fold. It's enlightened self-interest to be more conscious of what I'm sending out.

"Rather than remaining insistent and righteous, we can recognise our views as partial understandings of a more complex whole, and work to integrate different and seemingly opposing views. Our polarised culture—on right and left—doesn’t reward this. Yet."

I just scanned a document for the first time on Linux. Very impressed!

Never really had the need. Now just plugged in the only scanner I had access to (hp), fired up @gnome Simple Scan, and boy does it live up to it's name!
Scanned a six-pager in 2 minutes (via "multi-page from flat bed") and directly saved to PDF.
Amazed. 😮

Man möchte hysterisch lachen.

Meine Sitznachbarn Carles Puigdemont und Antonio Comin sind gar nicht zur Eröffnungssitzung des EU-Parlaments gekommen. Hab zwei Fahnen aufgestellt, damit ihre Plätze freigehalten werden... Smiley!

keep in mind that things like limewire and napster worked really well back when 100Kbps was fast internet. we are living in a #p2p dark age rn. the sooner we get people off web browsers and using real clients again the better the experience will be for everyone.

As anticipated in the poll of last week, I'm currently developing an unified resource tells you if your #smartphone or smartwatch is able to boot any (and what) kind of #Linux, with information on its current level of support (alpha to daily driver) and also aimed (in the limits this field allows) at relatively inexperienced users.

More details, and hopefully an usable/useful release, in the next days/weeks!
